Thank you O’ “Great Bird of the Galaxy”
ST was on Friday nights, 10PM..and was almost cancelled after a few months. However, it was easy to tell that it was gonna be a huge hit. It was my sophmore year of college, and on Friday nights, my fraternity would have an open house...a few kegs, bags of chips, and girls from all over the city would drop in..However, at 10pm, the juke boxd was turned off, and we all sat/stood around watching ST on the tube..
Great series. I own every season of every incarnation except for Deep Space Nine.
I used to get in trouble because I wanted to watch reruns of the 1st series instead of coming to the dinner table.
As an adult, I went to many ST conventions, eventually taking my child with me. We were privileged to meet James Doohan, Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, George Takai, Mark Lenard and then many from STNG as well.
Back before the internet and even before many people had DVD players, going to the conventions was the only way to get your ST fix after the show had gone off the air.
Great series. I own every season of every incarnation except for Deep Space Nine.
interesting. i think DS9 is the best of all of them. of course it still is behind BABYLON 5, FARSCAPE, and FIREFLY
Thanks! :)
I saw it. I was five years old, and the salt monster impressed me greatly.
I was in jr. high. Friday was dance night, but at 10:00 everything came to a screeching halt as we all gathered ‘round the black and white t.v.
Out of all of them, I would put DS9 as the best of all the incarnations after TOS.
As good as DS9 was, you are correct about it not being in the same league as B5, Farscape, and Firefly.
Nanu, nanu...or whatever.
