@nbcnightlynews : MT @chucktodd: Romney now officially calls on Akin to exit the race. He had been implying that, but hadn't directly said it. Now, he has

Time for people to stop making excuses, explanations, and the like and WIN THE BALL GAME.
The GOP doesn’t need to deal with Akin. He’s really gotta drop out.
“He will be tied around the necks of every Rep running in Nov.”
Nonsense, he didn’t screw with male interns or tap his foot under the bathroom stall, he said something stupid. It will have national implications no more than all the stupid crap Christine O’Donnell said in 2010 did. Romney is lowering his dignity here and making this worse, not better.
“Let the guy win or lose on his own but attaching the whole party to the issue was an incredibly stupid move on the part of the GOP.”
They are doing nothing different than what the Dems did to their guy running for the senate in Tenn.
They dont want to be associated with this guy, so they are all going on record making it clear.
And as CEO, you don’t fire the low level analyst or get involved with their day to day business either. One of your other employees does.
I do not think Akin is interested in hearing from anybody about what we think. And only he can withdraw from the race.
Now the nominal RINO leader of the party disowns him as well as most conservative commentators, the leader of the Tea Party, the Republican leadership, Republican PACs. He will have no campaign money to fight the 12 million McCaskill has in the bank to advertise that everyone in the universe has disowned this loose cannon except a few kamicaze freepers. The only senate seat he may win is the one in the parallel universe he lives in.
I am officially NOT voting this November for ANYONE!
Interesting that the Republicans are keeping this fire burning even more than the leftist talking heads.
So some on FR have said, but when I ask for evidence, I've not gotten a response. Sounds like just another wild claim to me.
And as a result others seriously thinking about sitting this one out so they won’t be associated with the idiot GOP who were dumb enough to get involved.
Yeah... you got a point there...
Republicans seem to be treating the election like it’s in the bag and we have wiggle room to spare. The fact is, we don’t have room to spare. We need to win the races we can win, and not roll the dice on a guy that answered this abortion question so stunningly ineptly.
The last time conservatives were preening and counting their chickens before they hatched was just a short while ago with Obamacare and the Supreme Court. We know how that turned out.
Nobody quite falls on their arse like self assured Republicans. It’s astonishing.
And Huckabee tipped the race to Aikin in the primaries. Thanks for screwing up yet another election, Huck.
Pretty easy to say, "That's for the good people of Missouri to decide."
Romney should just leave it alone.
Was what Akin said about “legitimate” rape stupid? Absolutely. That said, hiis intent was merely to defend the lives of unborn children. Children conceived of rape are innocent persons deserving of the right to life. They should not pay for the crimes of their fathers. The liberals are making him out to be the bad guy when their abortion policies have led to the deaths of 55 MILLION unborn children and counting.
The only thing a president can do to impact abortion is appoint Supreme Court justices who will overturn Roe v. Wade. No such justice will ever be approved w/o a senate majority.
Once again the GOP and RNC totally blow this opportunity and continue to let the DNC, Obama, the Media and ALL the Communist operatives in this country continue to set the operational tempo.
They need to fully focus on McCaskill and the myriad of problems she has.
This is the same exact approach Obama used to get himself elected originally to IL senate.
Until we stand up to their dishonest techniques and prove they can’t win with them...they will continue to do this crap.
Conservatives are supposed to have principles...
That's the best answer. There seems to be a large negative reaction building over all the calls for Akin to pull out. He might have said something idiotic, but he is THEIR idiot, by golly!
That’s pretty much what my neighbor just said.
