ROME, - A British art expert says two of the figures in Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece "The Last Supper" are actually self-portraits of the artist.
Ross King said this week that while not a lot is known about Da Vinci's physical appearance at the time he painted "The Last Supper," he is confident the noses on two of the apostles are a giveaway.
King has concluded the long hair, beards and Greek noses on the two matched up with a portrait of the Italian master drawn years later. Greek noses and prominent hair, King said, were "rarities for an Italian man of that period."
Italy's ANSA news agency said art historians long suspected Da Vinci painted himself into the work, but King told The Independent that no one had really taken the time to seriously look for it.

I heard it like:
“What did Jesus say to his disciples at the Last Supper?”
“Guys, you have to sit on this side of the table if you want to be in the picture.”

Leonardo was fascinated with faces and was known to follow people around town to sketch them. He likely sketched hundreds (if not thousands) of faces. With a log of sketches like that is it believable that he needed to use his own face twice in the Last Supper painting?

‘Well, it's not exactly if he was painting the actual supper as it happened...’
Really? According to a best selling book and movie by noted Catholic Heretic and hater Dan Brown, Everything DaVinci did in that painting was a clue to how the Church has lied, and murdered to protect that lie, about all things Christ since the beginning of time!
I mean really, who would you believe 266 Bishops Of Rome in Apostolic Succession from St. Peter to Pope Benedict XVI, or the brain farts of Dan Brown?

Tell me, if am I wrong...but isn’t the Da Vinci Code a work of *fiction*? and characterized as such?

I don’t really know much of the specifics about Da Vinci. I did d/l “The Notebooks of ...[LDV]” from Gutenberg a few months ago, but haven’t gotten around to reading it yet.
