I play golf often with 2 seniors who are both retired government workers. They will vote for Obama because they are convinced GOP is only for rich people’s benefit.

So I ask them basic questions such as...why should seniors be scared of Romney-Ryan? Their answer: they will cut Medicare & Social Security. I ask them do they know that GOP proposals will not affect people over 55? Nope, they don’t know. But they hear on the news that Ryan wants to gut Medicare.

Next topic...they want taxes on rich people to go up. I ask them who creates most new jobs? They agree it is small businesses. So I tell them if taxes are raised will it cause those small businesses to hire less people? Their answer flabbergasted me....They said no, the money will come out of profits only, not cutting employees.

I think we are in bigger trouble than you think.

Interesting anecdote, but I wouldn't read too much into that. Those two @ssholes would be voting for Obama in any case.

Something to remember here is that those are retired government workers, which means their whole political outlook has been based on an expectation of nanny-state government for decades. But for every one of those jack@sses, I would venture to guess that there are 2-3 Obama voters from 2008 who are: (1) under the age of 25; (2) recent (post-2008) college graduates; and (3) unemployed, and facing no prospects of gainful employment anytime soon. It's this latter group who is going to play a much bigger role in this election -- either by voting for Romney or by simply staying home on Election Day.

If the attitude that you described for those two golfing partners of yours were as indicative of a general political trend as you seem to think, we would never have Republican governors like Chris Christie and Scott Walker ... who built their campaigns on rescuing middle-class workers from government workers ... in deep "blue" states, mind you.

Something else to think about is that one of the cornerstones of the original ObamaCare legislation was that it was financed largely through massive Medicare cuts. For those two @ssholes to suggest that they're going to vote for that jug-eared nitwit because they think Romney and Ryan are going to "destroy Medicare" is laughable.

This is why this country is not run by retired government workers who play golf. It's also why if the sh!t really hits the fan in this country, a lot of retired government workers are going to find themselves on the first freight trains or barges taking hordes of useless, unproductive people to their demise.

why do you play golf with two retired govt workers?....they are the takers...the health care...the pensions....

their finances are secure...

I find those whose finances are secure especially be the govt tend to want no changes for them, but the rest of we little peasants should just buck up and pay more....

remember people...taxes on the "rich" don't really happen....the taxes fall on the two wage earner households and small businesses....the middle and upper classes.....the rich can connive, we can not so much...

Perfectly logical for people who never had to meet a payroll and who's employer could just print more money to cover the pay checks when the revenues didn't add up.

They lived their entire lives, but never in the real world.

Sadly, we have a population where higher and higher percentages of people have never been in the real world.

The Golden Goose is in critical condition.

But they hear on the news that Ryan wants to gut Medicare.

"Gut Medicare" is a 30 second, nightly news, commie 'RAT phrase. Ask them about the 600 billion their Kenyan boy is taking away from Medicare to pay for ObamaCare for the freeloaders. What cutesy phrase do they use to describe that? They sound as though they aren't very bright.

I had to take a moment to repeat this because it's so important. I know a 29 year old from Krispy Kreme Christie's NJ with the same view of how business works.

That's a failure of basic education and yet he attended college.

Republicans are certainly losing the message war and that's a very serious problem. Democrats have been marvelously successful at defining what Republicans are, what their priorities are, what their policies are. It's something to behold. Talk to someone who depends on TV for news.

The way news is "reported" makes me furious because it violates the fundamental principles I learned even as a kid about critical reading, fact checking, objectivity and evenhandedness--I won't say "fairness" because I've come to despise that word. Telling me every 30 minutes "Obama said" Paul Ryan is killing crops and destroying livelihoods because he's blocking a farm bill is not reporting. It's not journalism. It's parroting, it's being used as a tool of propaganda. What is the bill? Does it exist? Was there a vote? Did it passed? Is it in the Senate?

I notice Obama leads on the news breaks so he always get the "first word" in audio and many times his is the only audio. Again, that's propaganda and not journalism.

It is amazing to me Democrats can go so far as to effectively accuse Romney of murder and deny they are the ones accusing him of murder. That's where we are. That's how severe their propaganda campaign is. Incredible.
