Do the Crips have a trademark on this dance? It was a little dance. What’s the big deal? How stupid for the press to have a boner over this.
This is freaking ridiculous. How many people would have known it had ANY ties to some “gang” were it not for the media making such a huge deal out of it??? Surely, my friends and I who danced in High School in the late 80s and beyond weren’t doing this type of footwork because we were in, nor did we idolize gangs! We lived in the Mid-West suburbs and didn’t know much about LA’s gangster life!
This whole controversy reminds me of the movie “Footloose” (the original), frankly... God forbid someone dance for happiness!
her sister was shot down in Compton. i think she was killed by a Crip.
the story goes that the Crip Walk was about spelling out the name of the other gang and doing a step over it.
I am surprised that some of those announcers even knew what it was when she did it.
