An estimated two billion people around the world saw Jamaica's Usain Bolt thrash his rivals to win gold in the men's 100m final - but none of them were in the U.S., as NBC declined to broadcast the historic moment live. Bolt sailed through the semi-finals before successfully defending his Olympic title - against a field that included three Americans - at 4.50pm EDT. But, not for the first time this Games, NBC took the controversial decision to hold off broadcasting the hugely popular event until prime time, leaving millions of track and field fans outraged.

To be honest, I had never heard of Bolt before last night. We are not exactly track fans, and we watched — with DVR — only so we could cheer on USA.
I was happy for him because it looked like he worked so hard, but, then, when I saw how obnoxious he acted afterwards, I just thought he was a jerk.
I miss ABC's Olympic coverage. Even though they didn't devote near as much air time to the games, they seemed to show more stuff. Of course, that may just be nostalgia messing with my brain.
Has anyone else noticed that their track and field coverage is all track and no field? No hammer, no javelin, no discus . . . a very little shot put. They've shown a couple of "jumping" events. Are the field events simply not popular in the United States?
Track and field is supposed to be the heart and soul of the Olympics. I can understand their wanting to telecast it in prime time, but still . . . no field at all? Will they even cover the decathlon? Or the pole vault?
And what happened to the women's marathon? Isn't that supposed to be on the first day of track and field competition? I haven't heard a word about it. Maybe the men and women are running together this year?
Even the old ABC Wide World of Sports would occasionally show field events. This is pitiful.
I haven’t watched any of it either. I tried, but everything seems so packaged and artificial. It all seems irrelevant and unimportant, compared to so many other events that are taking place in our lives.
He’s the biggest sports star in the world.
That and beach volleyball. The PC shove these sports down your throat is pathetic.
Pray for America
Hes the biggest sports star in the world.

Sorry, I just don’t follow sports much. It’s a shame he’s a jerk.
That five minute James Bond segment — right in the middle of major gymnastics and track coverage! — was absolutely the low point of the NBC coverage so far. I thought I’d accidentally changed the channel!
We just had the biggest moment of the games so far, if you’re watching you’ll know what I’m talking about.
He might be arrogant, but he showed more respect for our National Anthem than some foreign reporter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8J2EiF4LcY
Every time i tune in the coverage they have some sport on I have never seem or barely heard of

Sorry, I don’t do YouTube anymore, since I don’t want to give a Google-owned site the hits.
