Well It had to happen. A friend of mine called me up and wanted to ask me a few healthcare questions. For background sake he is a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat whose daddy was a Democrat and his entire family only voted Democrat. I am an RN who works at a local MD owned Ambulatory Surgical Unit. He started out asking me what types of blood tests he should get on Monday when he goes to his Primary Care Physician for his annual physical. I told him that the doctor will perform a routine battery of tests that screen for any problems. He asked me if he should have any other tests (for Cancer ect) besides the MD recommended ones. I said no because it did not make any economic sense to test for everything, just wait til the results of the screening tests came back and if there are any abnormal values, the doctor will order more specific tests for that particular result. He stated he did not want to do this because the doctors office said he would have to pay for the other tests and that under Obama Care any routine tests should be covered. I told him that yes, certain preventative tests are done for free. I also told him that if his results came pack abnormal and required any further testing he would most likely have to pay for them if it is not covered by his insurance. He started to become perturbed. He told me that his wife went to get a pap smear and had to pay for it and that this should be free but it wasn't. He then asked me what all this Obama Care stuff was about if you have to pay for it. I asked him if he had health Insurance. He said yes and I responded that since he has insurance he was going to have to pay his Co-Pay if any abnormal results showed up. I explained to him that this is the way that the law was written and that frankly he made too much money for the law to cover it. I said that if he was on medicaid or State indigent care the entire visit would be covered, and that somebody has to pay for them. I had a dead silence on the other side of the phone and I could see his head exploding. I'll see him tomorrow and ask him how it is turning out.
Oh, and if he likes his current insurance, remind him that his premiums will be going up because the new ObamaCare Insurance insurance requirements and ask him how he will like that and that Obama cannot control this.

Next time you see him, tell him to become a taker not a giver. Then his Pap Smears will be free!
It’s going to be fun watching all these Lefties who have been hating on “the rich” expecting everything to be free find out that the government considers THEM to be among “the rich.”

Obamacare is not about health period.
Oh yes, tell him about the LONG Lines that are coming. That you will be prioritized before you can come in and that you might die, like they do in Europe, eventually before you get in.
Nor is it about free stuff. Someone, somewhere pays for it..
And be sure to tell him that some tests he wants won’t be available to him because of his age and he won’t be able to even pay for them, even if he wants to. His doc won’t take the money because if he does he’ll be fined and put in prison.
Things are a changin’ - we’ll all be going to Canada for our healthcare.

Smartest damm answer I have heard on FR since Obamacare was dropped like a week old turd in a toilet bowel, seriously its even worth it myself to find a decent sized stable vessel to just start it on my own. An old navy barge with some portable buildings on it.

I’m tired of my clueless, liberal friends bragging about their “free health care”.
A friend’s deadbeat son is getting his PhD in Sociology at Berkeley, without having to spend a nickel. His mother brags that the University is footing the bill(because her son is such a genius that the school had to have him). I assume that somehow we end up paying for this. Or is it the taxpayers of CA?
And what does one do with a PhD in Sociology? His mother says he wants to travel the world to help others and then teach. ?(%$%
Same 26 year old freeloader got “free’ healthcare for a Crone’s syndrome and a slew of other self induced physical ailments by claiming indigence.
Another acquintance is 68, had a triple bypass, compliments of Medicare...and continues to smoke and eat high fat foods, claiming “I’ll just get another one”. (free bypass). Actually we taxpayers might get a break on this one...as he may not be here to get his handout surgery.
