Voroshilovgrad (named after one of Stalin's henchmen) is today called Lugansk. The nearby town of Alchevsk was then know as Kommunarsk. So it is not just big cities like Leningrad and Stalingrad that have changed their name. Some town names have slight changes due to transliteration differences between Russian and Ukrainian to English. The major city of Kharkov (pronounced Harkov) is usually transliterated at Kharkiv by Ukrainians (even though most in that city speak Russian and not Ukrainian).
