Singer Andy Williams returns home to spend his dying days surrounded by family

Singer Andy Williams has returned home to spend his final days with his family after doctors told him they can do nothing more to treat his bladder cancer.

The Moon River crooner, 84, is now at his Branson, Missouri, home surrounded by his wife, children and friends.

He has asked them to remember the good times and the music he has created over a career that has last three-quarters of a century.

'They are all desperately sad to see their father suffer,' a source told the Sunday Express. 'But he has told them all not to cry for him and remember him when he has gone through the music he has loved all his life.'

Williams announced he was suffering from bladder cancer onstage at a show at the Moon River Theater in Branson last December.

Wow I remember when they did that skit. I thought at the time why do that to him.

My sister bought a block of tickets to see Andy Williams one year just before Christmas, under the premise that we were all, as a family, taking Momma to the concert. Turned out the concert was scheduled for the same time a major NFL playoff game was starting. Andy Williams came out to open the show with some Christmas songs and be brought along two very attractive “elves” to sing and dance alongside him.

When he paused after his opening few songs, he addressed all the men in the audience and apologized for the unfortunate timing of the concert and he thought he’d lessen the pain by bringing out the two lovely ladies so us guys might enjoy the show a little more. ;-) He also kept us updated on the score 2 or 3 times during the show. He was a class act.

If that wife is still Claudine Longet, don't leave any pistols around.

Prayers for Andy. Truthfully I didn't know he was still alive.

All the good ones are slowly but surely leaving us and there is no one to replace them. At least we have a video of several of his Christmas specials so my grandchildren can see the kinds of wonderful Christmas programs our generation enjoyed. Especially loved to hear him sing Ave Maria.

Mom loved his music. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without her playing that album every holiday season.

The three of us share the same fond memories of Andy Williams.

Used to love The Bear on Andy Williams’ show. And Dean Martin was just a hoot.

Remember the other day when you were talking to me about who the third one would be? In this short period of time we’ve lost Andy Griffith, Ernest Borgnine, and soon we will lose, Andy Williams.

You were right. He is a good man. Andy’s Christmas specials were also eagerly anticipated in our home, and they lent their own brand of warmth and sparkle to the season. May God comfort and bless Andy and his family.

She was convicted of a misdemeanor, and only spent 30 days in jail for the shooting of Spider Sabich, and has kept a low profile since then. I believe there was a civil suit by the family against her that was settled out of court.

“Can’t Get Used To Losing You”

Funny, that’s the song I first thought of too. Very clever writing for the time.

I remember The English Beat's cover of it.

We all have to check out someday. Overall, I think I would like a little advanced warning so my loved ones could say anything they wanted to say.

So Mr. Williams, I am sad to see you go, but it’s good you are going on your own terms.

In his 1959 hit Lonely Street, Andy Williams asks, "where's this place called Lonely Street?" I found a street that matches his description--Columbus Rd., which runs east of Columbus, NM and stops just short of the Rio Grande. One night when I was driving eastbound on the road through Doña Ana County, I saw no sign of human habitation for about 50 miles--and except for a couple of Border Patrol SUV's, I met no other oncoming vehicles.
