Clean LCD HDTV screen?

Posted on 07/08/2012 5:39:48 PM PDT by savedbygrace

A month or so ago, I bought my first HDTV, a 47" Vizio LCD.

What are the best, safest ways to clean the screen?

Thanks for your suggestions.

BTW, this Vizio is boss. No setup required and the picture is perfect.

Do it yourself. Do NOT ask the wife to do it!

Use one of those micro-cloths. Spray vinegar on the cloth, never on the screen. Use light swirling motion on screen. Do not press hard but a light dusting effect. I do this on two laptops plus an LCD TV screen

I’ve had good luck with a rotary sander.

Read the manual!!! I know, it’s unamerican, but do it anyway. I wouldn’t take the chance of using the wrong cleaner and screwing up your new sweet screen. :)

LCD HD screens are to be afforded the greatest reverence, respect, and awe - allowing one, through neglect, to fall into a condition where it needs cleaning is a sacrilege, and you will surely burn in eternal fire...

Don’t use a belt sander.

I use this after I complete a professional install (that is.. if it needs it. Most of the time I am so clean.. well.. )

On the high buck installs I do. I leave the can behind for the new owner of the tv.

I usually use alcohol.

I use a 50/50 mix of Windex and Vinegar on all the screens-— HDTV, Laptops, Whatever. Have no problem. (Also works great on the inside of car windows and eyeglass lens.)USE A SOFT CLOTH! NO PAPER TOWELS!

Spray vinegar

You have a vinegar sprayer? Must be great on salads.

What concentration of vinegar and do you follow this up with a damp finish wipe of clean water?
