Companies will start to make adjustments to staff to insure that they are at the minimums of these new regulations and taxes.

Some companies will find early on that the fines will be much less than the premiums they are paying and will make changes to their benefit packages.

We only need 51 votes in the Senate. It’s a tax so it can be repealed through Reconciliation process. Same way Dingy Harry got around a GOP filibuster, and rammed it through the Senate in 2010.

I’ll tell you what is next. Higher utility bills and more expensive taxpayer provided trips by that b*tch in the White House.

Sorry, I am in a very foul mood this morning.

If Obamacare Isn't Repealed, What Can We Expect?

If that happens, I expect very possibly to move to Idaho where Obamacare has been nullified (or maybe Texas if they do the same).

At 18% of GDP? A current debt already exceeding GDP?

Another 1,000 yrs of darkness.

We’re already infested with Community Clinics infested with list checking morons.

First of all it’s absolutely ESSENTIAL to the democrats that the “Bush Tax Cuts” expire AND that obama get an increased borrowing line by increasing the debt ceiling this fall - AGAIN

They will shut down the government (threaten social security. MEDICARE add military pay) before the election and make it look like the GOP’s fault, to force the GOP to go along

They’ve already programmed the increased revenues to get obamacare up and running, though it won’t be nearly enough because their projections of increasing govt revenue from economic growth are/were wildly off base (a BIG LIE actually)

Under this law, if you don't have insurance, you pay a penalty (tax).

It is my understanding that many of the people without insurance are Illegals. Are Illegals now required, under law, to have insurance? And if they don't have insurance, will they be penalized - or would that be considered discrimination?

We are becoming Europe. Look at their medical system (limited socialized care) and that is what we are getting.

Also, the more congress and govt in general gets involved in something, the more it costs and the more fouled up it gets. There will be ZERO cost savings from this. The cost of medicine will continue to go up. The only way to bring down the cost of medicine is to have tort reform, which won’t happen until we first have term limits in congress.

I think one step you left out was the disappearance of private medical insurance. Insurance companies looking at the law's restrictions on profits, internal expenses and marketing will decide that they can make money on life, car and house insurance so they really don't need a money loser like the medical business. Even if a business wants to buy insurance for their employees, there won't be anyone left to sell it to them other than the government.

OBAMACARE is set up to where they can waive groups or people from the participation. Kathleen Sebelius, Health and Human secretary can waive companies or groups from obamacare.

Mitt should say that he is going to appoint an HHS secretary that will waive ALL AMERICANS.

Obamacare and the tax that comes with it would be D.O.A.

“What are your thoughts?”

I think you have seen the future, particularly insofar as the political “nuances” are concerned. Particularly so for drug companies, and who will avoid “waits” for care.

Kudos.

If Obamacare is implemented in its current form look for chaos in getting both health insurance and medical care. Insurance companies will have to offer health plans meeting the government's specifications ...my bet that will mean all policies will have free or mostly free abortions, benefits for assisted suicide, must include sex change surgeries and other liberal lunacy. With all preexisting conditions waived thousands of high risk people will get insurance who will immediately begin getting high cost benefits. The cost of private health insurance will skyrocket forcing many companies the drop insurance as it will be cheaper to pay the fine (i.e. tax) than provide health insurance. Small population states with few health insurers will see companies flee their market further pushing up costs. Without employer sponsored health insurance vast numbers of people will be forced to the state health care exchanges none of which have yet been created or in some states even had a preliminary start. The regulations on how these exchanges are to work is yet to be written or any money appropriated to fund their operation so there will be utter chaos in getting coverage. The SCOTUS ruling allows states to keep their current Medicaid eligibility so millions who cannot afford coverage under the health care exchanges will have no health insurance coverage.

If even half of the physicians who have said they will quit practice due to Obamacare make good on their promise there will almost immediately be long waits to see a physician and many clinics will rely more on physician assistants or nurse practitioners. Going to a clinic will more than likely mean a 10 minute visit with a physician assistant or nurse practitioner and a wait of weeks or more to see an actual physician. Hospital ERs will be flooded with people who do not want to wait to see a doctor. Medicare will become almost worthless as many hospitals and doctors will refuse to take or limit the number of new Medicare patients because of low reimbursement. Patients will become aware of new government treatment "guidelines" almost immediately. Medications that are not generic will be very hard to get and many patients will have to settle for less effective older drugs with more side effects solely because they are cheaper. Older adults will be routinely be denied common treatments. Forget about knee or hip replacements or cardiac pacemakers if you are over 75. Cancer in older patients will either not be treated or only minimally treated. NICU facilities will be forced to have death panels to decide which high risk infants will be given treatment. Abortions will be free or mostly free and hospitals be forced to provide them. Many Catholic hospitals will be shut down or sold to private holders adding to the long waits for hospital beds. Healthcare will quickly resemble that in places like the UK.

“What are your thoughts?”

START: My thoughts are this; EVERYTHING the government has taken over has become an over-bloated bureaucracy. IF the “tax” in the form of the fine on us ESCALATES like the price of a postage stamp has done; the government will have us as scared of the enforcing authority as we are now of the IRS - AND - They will get huge judgements on us for non-compliance and take our property. END

(Never mind that little nugget about EVERYTHING the government takes over going BROKE.)

Death panels begin 1/1/13 for Medicare patients. Every Medicare accepting hospital will be insentivized to raise the threshold for admissions/readmissions for certain conditions.

My thoughts are these:

Doctors with the means will retire rather than attempt to work under severely controlled government regulations...especially ones that haven't been issued yet. I would estimate that half of all MDs will leave the profession. Future MDs now in school will be doing some soul searching. All health care workers in the US today will be heavily courted by the SEIU. The SEIU will have already produced 5 or 6 thousand pages of “work rules” for “employers”.

As the government scrambles to provide “care” for of the formerly uninsured, the strain on the already stressed system will bring it to the break point. Already overcrowded ER'S will see enormous increases in patients. Nurse practitioners and Physicians Assistants will become the first line in treatment as MDs become scarce.

Down the road, private insurance companies disappear due to attrition and inability to compete.

All chain drug stores will ultimately be taken over GM style by the government to “streamline the healthcare delivery process”.

You think there are major drug shortages now, wait until some well-meaning bureacratic panel from HHS decides what will be allowed and what will be manufactured.

I could go on

What can we expect?

We can expect forms with boxes that asks you to mark your race, sexual preferences, and legal status. Of course, they will already know your what your religion is and to which political party you belong.

But for damn sure the race and sexual preference boxes will be there.
