I think one step you left out was the disappearance of private medical insurance. Insurance companies looking at the law's restrictions on profits, internal expenses and marketing will decide that they can make money on life, car and house insurance so they really don't need a money loser like the medical business. Even if a business wants to buy insurance for their employees, there won't be anyone left to sell it to them other than the government.

Private health insurance companies are not going away. They will now get govt subsidies and will actually make even more money from this. The govt is throwing money at the insurance companies because the private companies are needed to make this work without the entire system collapsing. So you can keep your private insurance, but don’t expect to get the same services at the price you have been paying.
