I used to play this in a band in high school(early/mid '60s). Our drummer told me not long ago that he was the worst drummer ever. He wasn't any worse than I was as a guitar player! Three of the four of us served in the military, Vietnam era. I also served later. Fun stuff. Innocent days.
As if General Babbitt, a fellow aircraft maintenance officer, weren’t already my favorite Air Force 4-star General.
Just how cool is that........
....and as an even more special treat, watch it til the end, then you’ll see where you can click on a clip of Jimmy and Stevie Ray Vaughn playing “Pipeline” on a single double-neck guitar.
Jaw-dropping. Just doesn’t get any better than that.
Seems like a cool guy; different from the 4-stars back in my day. What do you know about his background, besides playing for The Ventures as a teenager (which is too cool for words, IMHO)?
I met him back in ‘93 when he was a 1-star and I was a butter bar. Very nice guy.
Pat Gamble played guitar for The Shifters, 1962 1963 in Lakewood, Washington. He retired as an AF four-star, became president of Alaskan Railroad and then president of University of Alaska. He also is a great patriot and very nice fellow. General Babbitt should also be singled out for really beating the odds. There have been very, very few four stars in the AF that were not rated pilots or navigators. Babbitt retired in 2000. Note the color of his hair. I know a substantial number of AF senior officers almost all have one thing in common their hair is white as snow.
Same here. He came to Sheppard AFB to speak to my Aircraft Maintenance Officer class. Down-to-earth guy.
Quite a career; clearly what was referred to as a “fast burner” (witness: made Major three years below-the-zone).
My God that man moved a lot....check out his postings record. Bet he and his family never got out of cardboard boxes.
One time for sure...after retiring!
I think he was the ATC LG then. But I’m thinking 91-92 now....
