Happy Birthday ??
I have a good friend who sky dived last October at age 91. He plans to do it again this fall...
He would not drive above the speed limit, even if I made us run very late.”
As a frequent offender, speeding doesn’t make up for poor planning.
It only gets you to the next stop light ahead of the other guy.
3 lights and you’re all even!
She shouldn’t beat herself up - unless she also packed his chute.
Actually, they didn't die when their parachute didn't open -- they died when they hit the ground after their parachute did not open.
I think you mean “...now she will be paid dearly for that.”
“I think it’s bizarre that a woman would badger her reluctant husband to jump out of an airplane.”

Some people truly believe that regularly defying gravity ( via whatever daredevil dalliance), is what life is all about; that those allegedly thrilling activities constitue a consummate life experience.
Actually, they didn’t die when their parachute didn’t open — they died when they hit the ground after their parachute did not open.

As my father used to say, it wasn’t the fall, it was the sudden stop.
Very funny! And true...
Yup, it’s not the fall that kills ya, it’s the impact.
I’ll do just about anything the wife asks, because it’s generally easier than arguing about it, but jumping out of a perfectly good airplane is a definite line in the sand.
"Ya see, ma'am, if you were having an affair -- and I'm not suggesting you were -- then a sky diving accident for your husband might be very convenient. No offense."
"None taken, Lieutenant. In fact, I'll admit to it. You see, I was cheating on my husband."
"Is that a fact?"
"Yes, Lieutenant. But it hardly provides evidence that I caused this accident."
"But it might."
"I don't think so -- you see: my lover was Alexander Chulsky!"
"The sky diving instructor?"
"Yes! So you can imagine I wouldn't want to kill my husband AND my lover."
"Of course not."
"Good day, Lieutenant."
"Good day, Ma'am ... oh, just one more thing, Ma'am?"
"Really, Lieutenant! You try my patience!"
"I'm so sorry, Ma'am. I was just wondering ... How well did you know ... the pilot?"
You nailed it! Very funny.
Actually it is hard to assess guilt without putting an eyeball on the wife.
Allowing your wife to ‘pack your chute’ is up there with the no-no’s, almost like saying
“Never hand a loaded pistol to anyone unless she thinks it is her hair dryer”.
...”I’m so sorry, Ma’am. I was just wondering ... How well did you know ... the pilot?”
I once had an argument with someone here on FR who argued this same thread of "thought" in defending riding motorcycles. He truly believes that taking daredevil chances is what life is all about.
And no, I am not about to waste my time arguing this matter all over again with anyone.
