My word, is nothing sacred?
Mark Dayton will be so excited. (Northstar is also the nickname of MN)
At least Wonder Woman is not lesbo.
Bleh. Northstar’s a minor Marvel character anyhow. He and his split-personality fraternal twin sister Jeanne-Marie (aka Aurora); Marvel gave them a real unstable family background too.
Never heard of him.
Well, that’s IT. I’ve cancelled my subscription.
I guess his super powers aren’t the only thing that makes him a mutant. Being Canadian makes it more believable, eh?
These are the death rattles of a once thriving and proud industry that told tales of heroics and wonder for kids and adults without getting mired in politics, liberalism and overt sexual issues. In other words, they were escapism. Now, most thinking readers have escaped the comics instead!
Today, a title is considered successful if it sells over 50,000 copies. In the 90s, it was 100,000 copies. In the 80s, 250,000 and so on, back to million sellers like Superman, Donald Duck and Captain Marvel in the 1940s. I would not be surprised if Disney (Marvel) and Time-Warner (DC) cut their losses and eliminate the publishing divisions and mine the characters for multi-million dollar movies for years to come.
I bet they won’t take the “courageous” stand and put a gay character in Avengers II. Not when there is a risk of losing actual money by offending the audience. That’s not the case in comics.
An “Ex-Man” is homosexual? Tie some tin cans to his bumper.
I’m convinced the entire comics publishing industry has turned lavender. DC plans to turn one of its superheroes gay. Marvel comes up with this obscure token gay superhero. Last summer while perusing the programming for San Diego Comic Con, I noticed the majority of comics panels were gay-themed. Gay this, gay that, gay, gay, gay. No wonder the medium is dying out.
Most gay guys aren't thinking about the wedding plans...
Most interesting is the creator, Marjorie Liu, doesn’t have any info on her family or private life listed on linkedin or wiki.
He’s Canadian, he could have gotten married a long time ago.
The “Year of the Queer” continues
Swell. Maybe after DC has outed their gay superhero, they can do a crossover episode where they double-date and go clubbing.
I think I’ve seen more threads today about gay comic-book characters than anything else.
