Gun Manufacturers Rifle Making Suggestion

Gun and Rifle manufacturers, I want your attention.
I've been looking for a rifle/shotgun to take on a long hike, and there's not many choices.
Take a look at Henry's U.S. Survival AR-7.
It's a good product for backpacking, but too small on caliber.
The fact that when it's packed inside its waterproof stock, it can float if dropped into water,
and can be retrieved and will still work, is a great deciding factor.
But being a .22LR is a detractor.
Now take a look at the Rossi Circuit Judge and their many different variations.
I like the 3-inch Magnum .410 gauge and .45 Colt varity that can also shoot 2.5-inch shotgun shells in .410 ga.
At 85 and 1/2 ounces, that's pretty good and a lot of choices, from shooting birds, to defending against bears.
A stainless steel model is a must on the trail, due to 100 percent chance of getting rained on, and on a long hike, probably getting dropped.
But, we need the capability of breaking the rifle down and putting it in the backpack, similar to Henry's AR-7.
Rossi's Circuit Judge doesn't offer this. Here's where someone can make some money, building a rifle that would fit this need.
The main goal is to keep the total pack weight down, to preferably under 30 pounds.
Rossi offers a model with a Black Tactical "Blued" barrel and a Black Synthetic Stock that only weighs 75 ounces,
but a hiker needs a stainless steel or weatherproof finish and prefers "the pieces when disassembled, fit inside a impact-resistant, waterproof stock, which will float."
Okay builders, any thoughts?

Look what that Savage Model 24D is selling for today, certainly alot more than $122.65.
Try $467.00 with $30.00 shipping and probably $25.00 paperwork fee on the other end.
But I'd bet it's worth it.

I can’t argue about the price. It’s certainly affordable.

The prices for ammo are ridiculous. I load my fullbore 405 grain .45-70 rounds with a Lee Precision Loader for .14 cents a piece. The roundball is .06 per round. Full rounds, primer and everything else.
About the same cost as a .22LR, but it leaves a 1/2 inch hole. Not bad.

And that’s part of the reason that I wish someone would make the type of gun that I wrote about. I want a .223 that will eat ANYTHING and still use AR mags. And not be made with too much plastic. And no buffer tube.
Too picky, I know. There are guns that have some of these features, but not all.
If someone could make a Mini 14 that took AR mags, I’d get it. From what I understand, those things will eat steel case like there’s no tomorrow.

I can’t do reloads on the trail. I’ll have to buy it.

You load up what you need on anyone day then only replace what you shot.
It was commonplace to reload five or six rounds in cowboy days.

I bought a Lee Loader for a 30-30 when I was a kid, and never used it.
To carry it on the trail, along with powder, shot and primer, just isn't efficient for the weight, use or money.
You have to worry about keeping it dry, and safe from other items.
I just don't see it for a 6 month trip.
Now staying around home, might be different. But my eyes, well I have to wear glasses with diabetes II.
Can you understand? I'm looking for "just enough firepower" with multiple choices in ammo, and small enough to backpack, and still be dependable.
And unlike the old days, I won't have a pack horse.

This should get the job done. Yosemitest is looking of a pack gun not a "pack mule" gun!

Mr. Aitken was convicted last year of illegal possession of firearms, following a trial in which the judge refused to let the jury hear about exceptions in the law that allow possession of firearms without a license, while moving to a new residence. Sounds like grounds for a mistrial and judicial misconduct to me.

Weight 5 lbs, is in the right range. But if you shoot a quail with it, there's nothing left but the feathers, all over the ground.
However, it'll cut up a bear.
Not much variety, so the
Circuit Judge is still on top.

Sounds like New Jersey might have to pay Mr. Aitken some retribution money.

Too bad Savage Firearms is not producing these firearms, now that preppers are looking for just such a tool. They’re getting hard to find.

One day I'm going to replace that shotgun. I'm sorry for your loss an for taking so long to reply.
These old guns are like time machines. I can hold mine and all those many wonderful memories come flooding back. :)
