The subchasers lauched from the Long Island shipyard displaced less than the German subs they hunted. With 2-4 ships sunk per day since January, the Battle of the Atlantic was not going well for the Allies. That is a 3" gun on the foredeck. Tiny vessels for the North Atlantic.
