OAKLAND, Calif.
Thousands of protesters in New York demanded an end to income inequality and housing foreclosures. Police fired tear gas to disperse marchers in Oakland, Calif. And black-clad demonstrators smashed windows in Seattle and occupied a building owned by the Catholic archdiocese in San Francisco.
Activists across the U.S. joined in worldwide May Day protests Tuesday, with anti-Wall Street demonstrators leading the way in some cities as they tried to recapture the enthusiasm that propelled their movement last fall.
While some protesters clashed with police, the melees were far less violent than ones that erupted last fall when the movement was at its peak. There were no major disruptions, though arrests were reported - including dozens in the San Francisco Bay area.

Nice Day out there.
What a disappointment. Tear gas... I was hoping for some serious beat downs, water cannons, and the ocassional swift kick in the but while someone commands that they: 1) Grow up, 2) Shower, 3) Get a job, and 4) Don’t vote until you’ve actually paid some taxes.
Still trying to figure out that moron in Cleveland, Baxter, who tried to blow up a bridge with four moronic friends from Occupy Cleveland. On Facebook, he describes himself as an ‘Anarcho-Communist’ whatever that is. As I recall, during the Spanish Civil War, anarchists and communists both sided with republican forces against Franco. However, the Commies were pretty intolerant of the anarchists and killed as many as they could.
Maybe Baxter and those like him will decide to kill themselves in trying to resolve their allegiance. We can only hope.
Today, in Chicago, I saw a green Astro van with a www.occupychi.org sticker on the back window. I was tempted to run the scruffy, bearded clowns off the road.
If the Occupy movement isn’t Communist advocacy, why do they celebrate Communist holidays like May Day and International Womens Day?
Lenin’s Birthday is masked as “Earth Day”, BTW.
Your forebearance is commendable. I would've at least followed them to wherever they next parked, then removed the Chevy's oil filter. Something like that.
Lovely weather!
An oxymoron.
True anarchists believe in NO government, true communists believe everything and everyone are simply tools of the state/proletariat. You know, like how the state "withered away" in communist China, or North Korea ?
They're morons.
