President Obama tells a joke that is just plain tasteless and nonsensical. Who writes this stuff for him! Obama: "What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull?" "A pit bull is delicious." First off, I doubt that a pit bull is delicious meat. To say it's "delicious" is probably a stretch unless you have no taste....hmmm. But the second part is the inclusion of the "hockey mom". It's nonsense. How is a hockey mom delicious or not delicious. Has he eaten hockey mom? Is is a metaphor for something negative about hockey moms? Did he just slam hockey moms? The President is so interested in trying to deflect the story from his own book that he recalled eating dog when he was young. So now he's yucking up jokes that are tasteless and pure nonsense. Good grief. Photo is the smile he flashed immediately after telling the "joke". Michelle photo is her looking at him like "I'm going to brain him when I get him alone."
Another good one.
Fr should publish a dictionary. Lots of super smart people post on here.
I learn more everytime I visit.
Oh, I think that was the intent. If you were a lefty you were supposed to think "oh boy, he's going to zing Sarah Palin now!" and if you were on the right you were supposed to go "oh here they go again with the tired Sarah Palin abuse" then the surprise is he makes a crack about eating the dog. Whoa, didn't see that coming, wow, how funny! Hah hah hah. That's the way the script went. Trouble is, dog eating is one of the few issues left and right are pretty much in synch with, we all agree it's weird and unpleasant.
The joke is a play on Palin’s ‘08 acceptance speech, when she described herself as a hockey mom and then asked and answered what the difference was between a hockey mom and a pit bull—lipstick.
It was clearly a shot at Palin, but the original post misses the point by saying it was nonsensical—it was a turnaround of a well-known Palin quip.
He was directing it at Sarah Palin. The comments he makes just before the hockey mom/pitbull joke referenced Palin on the today show.
Of course it was a play on Palin’s well-known line, given that she also described herself as a hockey mom—which is how it is also dig against her.
I don’t think it’s particularly funny, but it isn’t nonsensical.
The difference is there’s an off chance he might nibble on the pit and live to tell about it.
The joke is less about cannibalism and more of a double extender, aimed at the folks who find the teabag jokes humorous. Just more vulgarity from a vulgar man.
There was no shot at Palin. The setup was intended to make you expect a shot at Palin but then the target of the joke turned out to be Obama and the dog. He was poking fun at himself, not Palin. Now some things aren't funny and so it was a poor choice but there are plenty of things Obama does to get me irate, implying a joke about Palin was coming but then making it about himself isn't one of them.
On the other hand, maybe the point (as some contend) really was a slam that Sarah Palin isn't delicious, whatever that means. I don't think so. But whatever, I'm probably wrong (I am about most things, just ask my wife)
According to Larry Sinclair, Obama would find “hockey dads”
quite tasty........
Excellent word/phrase coinage by both of you! I'm going to "spread the word" about each of them.
I predict that your FReepmail inbox is suddenly gonna get very full.

Thank you :)

Actually the funny part is how much The Won continues to fear Sarah Palin almost four years later. He's such a wuss!
Hence the problem with the joke: not having a problem with the punchline, he thought it a clever & funny spin on another joke ... but the audience found the punchline so offensive they never noticed the reference.
You’ll like another word then:
Polypragmonocracy - Government of/by busybodies.
Even Michael Vick did not find it funny.
