AZUSA (CBS) Police say a woman in Azusa was riding her bicycle into cars on purpose so she could pressure drivers into giving her money.
One of the motorists called police after the 20-year-old woman was found crawling out from underneath their car near East Arrow Highway and South Azusa Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The woman fled and officers found her nearby. Paramedics treated her for some scratches and officers issued her a citation for alleged hit-and-run.
Azusa police said the suspect, Celina Pangburn, of Azusa, also tried to pull the same stunt a few hours earlier on a driver a few blocks east of Hollenbeck Avenue.
The case will reportedly be reviewed by the L.A. County District Attorneys office to see if further action will be taken.
Did they hit it?
Darwin Award for sure!
The Dangerous Jobs guy should try her job
This is just the beginning.
Sounds like a lot of the bike messengers in Chicago...looking for a big payday if they’re in an accident with a vehicle.
How can they tell? In Manhattan, about 75% of bicyclists ride like they are intentionally trying to get into accidents, but I’m sure most of them are just boorish morons.
I think she has mined that location, and when she is free she’ll have to move on to either Anaheim or Cucamonga.
Thank you for making me feel my age.
LOL!

Aren’t they all?
Either that, or TOO many of them seem to have a macho/testosterone problem.
I don’t get it. The few times I’ve ridden a bicycle around automobiles, I was scared shitless.
Bicycle and automobile traffic do not mix.
She wouldn’t fair too well against my Z71 Off Road.
Scams like that plus backing up into the car behind are rampant in Europe. Drivers there now have car cams that record them.
I saw a guy do that on a bike trail. He ran into a girl on rollerblades, broke his finger then sued her. I had a heads up that he had tried this a few times before so I refused to speak with his attorney.
I worked with a guy who was about 60 and something of a health enthusiast. He liked to bicycle, but for some reason, those mean motorist kept hitting him, putting him the hospital and leading to months of rehabiliation.
I’m a coward. I like to ride on bike paths and avoid vehicles altogether.
Dunno, but Laz surely would...
Short con....
KOOK a munga!
Celina Pangburn of Azusa, California. Nothing. Just sounds kind of funny when you say it.
Ambulance Chaser Celina Pangburn of Azusa, California. Even better.
There are signs in my area about drivers recognizing bicyclists rights (which I’m all for), but I’ve noticed it’s a rare bicyclist who stops at a stop sign. Most zip on through if they think there’s no traffic coming.
