'Titanic' Theme Song Makes Me Want To Throw Up, Kate Winslet Says
By Rene Lynch April 15, 2012
And the Oscar for the most refreshingly candid actress goes to ... "Titanic" star Kate Winslet!
Check out the above video of Winslet making the media rounds in advance of the re-release of "Titanic," the mega-blockbuster that made her a household name and earned her an Academy Award nomination for best actress. Winslet had two options going into this interview. She could have done the whole Hollywood-smiley-face thing and gushed on and on about how the 1997 movie changed her life, about how much she loves it, about the on-screen magic she shared with co-star Leonardo DiCaprio ... blah, blah, blah.
Or Winslet could have told it like it is.
Winslet said that she feels "like throwing up" when she hears the soaring theme song of "Titanic." In fact, she said, the signature Celine Dion ballad "haunts" her.
"I wish I could say, 'Oh listen everybody! It's the Celine Dion song!' But I don't. I just have to sit there, you know, kinda straight-faced, with a massive internal eye roll," she said.
It's no wonder she feels that way: "My Heart Will Go On" follows Winslet wherever she goes.
"Every time I go into either some kind of a bar in a hotel where there's a live pianist or into a restaurant where they are changing their music according to who walks in the door ... it's thrilling for people to 'surprise' me with the Celine Dion song," she said. (snip)
"It rather haunts me," she said of the song. "Bless you, Celine, but it does rather haunt me."

We shouldn’t be so hard on Kate.
In an interview I saw, she said she wasn’t the slightest bit attracted to Leonardo DiCaprio. It gave me a chuckle.

Jamie Brockett, the Ballad of the USS Titanic
I must have listened to this 497.5 times...
Any Wilson-Phillips song will make me wretch. “Hold On For One More Day” especially. Bleh!
Celine Dion singing makes me throw up. Could just be that.
I felt the exact same way about the entire movie.
I can’t stand “Seasons in the Sun”.....as the chorus repeats in head for the next 5 hours. It’s about as bad as “Me and you and dog named Boo”
Even worse, it could have been “Rain Drops Keep Falling on My Head”.
Never seen the movie. I’m quite proud of that.
I still can’t believe DiCaprio was cast in the lead of Gangs of New York. He doesn’t look Irish in the least.
The whining of RS/Cure entertains me greatly. The whining of BS is....well...BS ;)
This was popular on Dr. Demento's radio show in the late 1970's.
I’m with Kate; I can’t stand the song, either.
Ironic post of the MONTH! :-)
The fact that you once turned me down makes me want to throw up.
You one fine lookin woman .....
Distressed ....
Karen Carpenter had more talent in her pinky finger than all of today’s singers combined. Adele, Lady Gaga, Carrie Underwood-—they’re all screechers. She had a perfect voice and sadly died too soon. The stuff she sang 40 years ago is better than most of the garbage you hear today. I listen to their Christmas album every year. Her “Ave Maria” is top-notch. Name someone with a better voice. They may not be your cup of tea, but they did have enormous talent.
I thought the movie was unwatchable. Without DeCaprio, it would have been barely watchable. Without DeCaprio and a better plot, it might have been watchable.
Nothing makes me throw up as much as ‘Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog’. You should have seen the look on the faces of my wedding band (circa 1982) when I told them that if they played that song I wouldn’t be held responsible for smashing their guitars over their amps. Sort of like what John Belushi did to Stephen Bishop in ‘Animal House’.
