Cats also get a mention.

Here's that part from the article:

Crew often had at least one cat on board each ship to help keep the rat population down. It's said that there was a cat with young kittens aboard the sea trials of the Titanic but when the ship arrived in Southampton from Belfast, she was seen disembarking. Up and down the gangplank she went, retrieving one kitten at a time that she deposited on the dock. She and the kittens quickly disappeared and it was later said that had some sort of premonition that the voyage wasn't going to be a good one.

Also a ping to those on the RMS Titanic interest list for this story.

Above, a picture of some of the dozen dogs reported to be aboard Titanic.

Stalwart dogs, all. They would only have drowned if they had fought to the last breath.

Looks they were all terriers. *sob*

There is, or was, a show in Branson, MO based on the Titanic from the pets point of view. It was held in a theater that was built to look sort of like the Titanic. I never saw the show though.

WOW! neat story. I heard that when a stray cat enters a new home, it is a sign of good luck.
It’s interesting that people took notice of the cat. It must have been very busy on that gangplank. That cat was truly focused.

I’m sure if the dogs weren’t on leashes, they would have followed that cat.

Thanks for the ping!

I watched James Cameron's Titanic documentary Sunday night on PBS.

It was absolutely fascinating, nay...... riveting....and at one point, poignant.

He and his long time staff have devoted much of their adult life to the ongoing biography of the doomed line, although Cameron did state at the end that he personally will move on to other and different challenges....and that his famous Titanic movie plus the documentary will be his signature works to remember.
