On a recent flight to New York, I was delighted when a stewardess came over and gave me a bottle of champagne.
This is from the captain he wants to welcome you on board and hopes you have a great flight today, she explained.
Youre probably thinking what a lovely surprise. But while it was lovely, it wasnt a surprise. At least, not for me.
Throughout my adult life, Ive regularly had bottles of bubbly or wine sent to my restaurant table by men I dont know. Once, a well-dressed chap bought my train ticket when I was standing behind him in the queue, while there was another occasion when a charming gentleman paid my fare as I stepped out of a cab in Paris..
Another time, as I was walking through Londons Portobello Road market, I was tapped on the shoulder and presented with a beautiful bunch of flowers. Even bar tenders frequently shoo my credit card away when I try to settle my bill..
And whenever Ive asked what Ive done to deserve such treatment, the donors of these gifts have always said the same thing: my pleasing appearance and pretty smile made their day.

Ummm... maybe I’ve been spoiled by college life but this lady is a 2, maybe a 3 on a good day. Then again, this is Britain so I must compare apples to apples and over there she is a 8!
Ugh

She eerily looks like an ex-girlfriend I've had. The ex had a better attitude though.
She's not bad looking, but doesn't stick out until I'm drinking rum and coke.

She is attractive, but she thinks much higher of her looks than a reality.
Beauty is fleeting.

I know. I posted the same Photoshop joke on another thread. It wasn’t funny on that one either.

Sometimes a girl can be only a bit pretty yet still be very attractive tho I am not saying that about this woman.
During the 60’s I thought Hayley Mills was hot as all get out yet I would look at her face and realize she was only a little on the pretty side, well maybe a little more than that but still not a knock-out.
I can still remember her in “Moonspinners” and those pink pants she wore.

That woman looks totally stoned!

pretty smile made their day. I fully understand and agree. I have had my day made by a smile more than once and look forward to it happening a couple of more times before I die.
I also believe there are other men and women who also know and understand.

So now Im 41 and probably one of very few women entering her fifth decade welcoming the decline of my looks. I cant wait for the wrinkles and the grey hair that will help me blend into the background.
And that background would be what, a train wreck?
To: kevkrom
My guess is that she dresses as easy, rather than being pretty, and gets attention from men who aim a little lower because that means that they just might actually have a chance. I was thinking the same thing.

She is so full of herself! And I find her to be far from being a knockout.

I’ve just seen this article, and she is reality challenged. Seven at most—obviously, the British scale of beauty is inflated.

If that passes as Hot and getting free stuff then I might go around dressed as a woman.

Years ago I was watching Oprah (must've been years ago, as I certainly haven't watched Oprah in years.) But she mentioned that she'd planned to have a program about the problems of beautiful people. Her producers put the word out for beautiful people to come and audition for the show. People were showing up saying, "Oh, my gorgeousness is SUCH a burden, people just can't keep their hands off me, the opposite sex is always chasing me!" yada yada yada. And according to Oprah, these people were extremely unattractive! Many people just have a distorted idea of what they look like. And I find that usually, the more people brag about their beauty or complain about the burden of being gorgeous, the less attractive they generally are.
