That’s a long drive from Michigan.

“The reason it’s so cheap is because the Mexican government regulates prices.”

More accurately, the government subsidizes prices; by selling well below the world price. It’s an insane policy.

Buying gasoline in Mexico adds a whole new meaning to the word “unleaded”.

Can’t blame them for doing that. It takes nearly a $100 bucks to fill a tank. That’s insane.

That means gasoline in Mexico would be $2.30/gallon.

But the Carney-barker in the White House says that $2.50 or less is a lie! Gas can't be that cheap!

Do they have to show their passport to get fuel?

In Mexico workers also pump the gas for you, and clean the glass and air up the tires while you wait.

But while the price may be right for some -- the same can't always be said about how good the product is.

Must be why every other car I see along the border is smoking like a pile of burning tires. j/k

Actually if they, the Mexicans, were adulterating their gas with things that would hurt your car, you would expect to see an increase in the number of engine failures, say, in the Southern counties of CA, AZ, NM, TX. Haven't heard of such a thing. Not saying it's not happening, I just haven't heard anything.

Anyway, you're not going to catch me going into Messyco to save a few bucks on a tankful of gasoline. Now, if they'd let me bring back a tanker full - everyday - I'd be hard to stop me.

The reason it's so cheap is because the Mexican government regulates prices.

The reason it is so cheap is that their oil company, Pemex, is nationalized. So it is a function of government, not private industry. Also, they drill for oil without senseless regulations. This is just a step in the plan to nationalize energy companies.

The border wait time for cars headed to San Diego from Tijuana is more than one hour on a good day. Three hour wait times are common. It definitely is not worth a special trip down there just for gas.

Business opportunity for enterprising Americanos: you can smuggle cheap gas across the border for resale at $1.00 less/gallon than retail. You can even smuggle it inside your gas tank.

Why save $30-40 dollars and get shot, raped or kidnapped by a bunch of banditos when you can’t take your own gun across the border, but you know that every crook in mexico has automatic weapons and zero love for gringos.

"the Mexican government regulates prices"

Thus, begins the governments effort to get us to accept the idea of price controls. Obama will likely try this a month or two before the election. If he does it too soon, gas lines and shortages will form (CarterII). Too Late, and he won't reap the good will of the ignorant moderates/independents.
