This superb 1954 film starring Jimmy Stewart, June Allyson and featuring Harry Morgan will be shown tonight (Saturday, March 3, 2012) at 10:15 PM Eastern Time on TCM.

There are many memorable moments in the "The Glenn Miller Story". Even if you've seen it before, you'll find it worth another viewing. If it's a new to you, enjoy the music of a bygone era and the fascinating story of how a down-on-his-luck trombone player created "The Sound" that captured the attention of an entire generation.

One of my favorite all time movies. It made a life-long Glenn Miller fan out of me, when I was in grade school.

By nature I am an unemotional person but the ending of the movie gets me every time when the band, absent Glenn who had just died, plays Little Brown Jug.

Like I said, there are so many memorable moments in “The Glenn Miller Story” and that is among the very best. It shows the will of the Allies during WWII as the band plays on while under German attack. The crescendo of “In the Mood” and the cheering of the troops is great!

I am a fan of both Jimmy Stewart and his movies. I did not realize Miller was only 30, born in 1914 shot down 1944. I always assumed Miller was a older guy like Stewart..

Actually Glenn Miller was born in 1904 in Clarinda, Iowa. He died at the age of 40. By the way, Jimmy Stewart was born four years later than Glenn Miller, so he was in his mid-40's when "The Glenn Miller Story" was being made.

“The crescendo of “In the Mood” and the cheering of the troops is great!”

Yes! Very moving part. Ranks up there (to me) with that part from Casablanca when the French girl is singing the French National anthem with tears in her eyes. There are not too many parts in movies that make a political statement of triumph over tyranny like those scenes.

Thanks for clearing that up I was listening to the 40’s on 4 the other day and the announcer said he was born in 1914 I thought that was a little late as I'd always thought Miller was about 40 when he was shot down...

Remember seeing this with my wife at a theater in Tokyo on our first date in 1986 .

Absolutely the greatest band leader of the era (Benny Goodman, eat your heart out!). I was born long after he died and discovered his music as a young person — never got over it. GREAT stuff. The movie is very good, too, although it does sugar coat what a jerk Miller could be.

One of a small number of movies (e.g., Casablanca, High Noon) I watch just about every time they’re on TCM. Never tire of the story and the music. Also, June Allyson is my all-time favorite girl-next-door type ;) ...despite her Depends...LOL!

LOL...Probably because Jimmy Stewart was virtually genetically incapable of playing a jerk!
