“The entrapped German troops will hold until relieved in April because the Luftwaffe manages to drop 270 tons of supplies to them daily.”
Sure, seems like a good idea; let’s try it again.
I think the decision to stand fast in the hedgehogs was the correct one in Winter 1941-2. The Soviets lacked logistics, mobility and tactical proficiency. They were bleeding themselves to death in frontal assaults on the hedgehogs. In addition, the Germans were not exhausted and not equipped for winter fighting. They also lacked mobility as vehicles had been burned out and stuck in the November mud and the Rasputitsa and winter killed many of the horses. The hedgehogs at least gave the Germans shelter.
Later, the strategy was questionable at best.

"The ship SS Struma, flying a neutral Panamanian flag and carrying Jewish refugees fleeing from Romania, is sunk in the Black Sea after Britain pressures Turkey to turn the ship back from Istanbul.
More than 700 Jewish passengers attempting to save their lives by reaching Palestine are drowned.
Only one passenger survives; "

Thanks very much for posting this. I wonder what percentage of Americans know that the Japanese actually SHELLED our mainland during World War 2.
That certainly puts their internment in a different light, for me.
Please accept my continued gratitude for this series. Very enlightening.
Accepted and appreciated.
