The gun totin' boys at the Broxton Bridge Plantation hunting ground were planning on having themselves a good old fashioned pigeon hunt. South Carolina's unfortunately named S.H.A.R.K. animal rights group planned to expose them via aerial drone. Guess what happened.
The Times and Democrat reports that once the hopeful hunters knew they were going to be watched from above, they started to leave the private shooting plantation. SHARK decided to send up their drone anywayabove a group of cranky firearm-wielding southerners. Big mistake, SHARK. Their drone was quickly shot out of the sky:
"Seconds after it hit the air, numerous shots rang out," [SHARK leader] Hindi said in the release. "As an act of revenge for us shutting down the pigeon slaughter, they had shot down our copter." He claimed the shooters were "in tree cover" and "fled the scene on small motorized vehicles."
From the photos of the drone we've obtained, it looks like the damage was pretty lightthough drones are very sensitive machines, and even a helicopter can be downed with small arms fire. Does this at least provide a possible explanation for the drone we lost over Iran? Are there pigeon hunts there? [The T and D]
good shot, no law against shooting at targets that could bomb you. Its the old saying ***theres no controlling legal opinion against it********
I’ve been to Broxton Ridge. They have a nice grass airstrip. GREAT hunt camp! Nice folks, and very good shots.
Seems it is not legal to do that, according to the FAA.
Moot point, anyway.
Even if there was a pellet in the damaged Improvised Recording Devise, its going to be hard to prove it was intentional.....
Looks like they winged it.
Good that these takedown skills are being developed. I suspect Baraq, Holder, and Big Sis will have a lot of them on the prowl in the coming months.
I call BS !!!
Got a link? What possible reason would there be to assess any damages?
He took a hike, they got lost. I am a tough old geezer with a good hunting GPS. I would have kept going and just left the stragglers as they dropped out, if they ever existed at all.
They didn’t have GPS then, he was my neighbor, but I’m a liar so add two more lies to my list.
Gone
Any good duck load will do it!
Shark got it very wrong. The hunters did not come to a pigeon slaughter, they came to a drone slaughter
on reflection, how did they recover the copter?
trespass?
We use #6 shot.. More sportin(gotta be a better shot) and you don’t damage the meat as much
Wish I’d have been there, I’d have loved shooting at this “bird”.....LOL
Always keep a couple rounds of lead #2’s in case you’re attacked by a rabid turkey.
Ain’t that the truth! A lot of us would have enjoyed doing that!
Dunno, doves are fairly fast. Mebbe they led it too much...
Doves, pigeons, oh well, ‘two bite’ birds...
