Good morning Gardeners!!!!
I know I'm not part of your usual cast of gardening threadmasters, but it's afternoon here and the thread hasn't arrived yet! So I'm going to start one, and if it turns out later that I shouldn't have, then I'll appologize really nicely.

The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread ... there is no telling where it will go and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

We have snow up here today. Good thing too, it was looking way to dry for February.

Have four ‘maters in and flowering: 2 Bonnie Goliath bush and 2 Bonnie Tami G grape. The rest will be heirlooms once they’re available, all blacks.
Over the weekend I finally got the last of the fall harvest in the freezer. 2 pumpkins and one zucchetta rampicante that had been sitting on the counter since October. The pumpkins were tiny little pie pumpkins, but the zucchetta was huge! It took 2 roaster pans to bake that thing!
The pumpkins were from an experiment. There’s a hybrid variety that I love, so I’m trying to breed it back into an open-pollinated one. Homesteading guru Jackie Clay has done this successfully with tomato varieties, so I’m trying it with my pumpkins. Most of the ones from this last batch were missing one trait or another, but one of them was perfect, so I’m saving seeds from that one for the next round.
The zucchetta is actually an Italian zucchinni. It has a firm, meaty texture that I love, and is good enough to eat raw or cooked. Over the summer I’d read that this same variety makes a decent winter squash, so when one got buried in leaves until it was too big, I decided to let it finish ripening all the way. Besides, I wanted to save the seeds before I ran out of them.
My goodness that squash is sweet!!! Not “sweet as vegetables go”, but “who snuck 4 cups of sugar in the blender with it” sweet!!!! I was tempted to try getting sugar from it like you can with beets, but decided not to. We made pie with it and left out 1/3 of the sugar in the recipe, it still came out a bit too sugary! And we got 13 and 1/2 cups of squash puree from a single squash, that one is definately getting more space in my garden this spring!
I’m afraid the only pots I’m familiar with are the kind you cook in, or the kind you plant stuff in. The leafy, growing kind of pot, that I have no experience with.
Purple of Sicily and Sunset Cauliflower seedlings cranking, along with twelve varieties of sweet peppers...will be starting 150 varieties of tomatoes pretty soon...
As long as we don't have a hard freeze, I expect many of us will have early blooms this spring. How about the rest of you?

First of 13 new raised beds planted this week - lettuce/cold hardy stuff.
Cold front rolling into Charleston this weekend - sub freezing nights - cold enough to light a fire! Hopefully it’’l bring some much needed rain.
Bought onion sets for the first time, shallots too. Will have to wait for our next warm day.

Ya done good Ellendra!!! JaDB is on a mountain top in Montana and I suspect Reddevil232 is making the move to Texas from his plantation in Ole Miss. Old and Older age has taken it’s toll on me but I AM getting things done in the garden like renovating the strawberry beds. We got seeds from Twilley, Johnny’s, Territorial and Pine Tree today including Lady Bender’s flowers and my veggies...
Here in north Texas my daffodils are just starting to pop through the mulch. My garden only gets late sun so I am sure they are getting a later start than most around here. My panseys are going to be surprised because tomorrow morning it is supposed to be going down to 22 degrees. I went outside today and turned the soil over in my back flower bed. Now just waiting for warmer weather.
Those of you that helped me with my dandelion problem I just want to say I have been sraying them and it seems to be working. Thank you for all your help.
I'm just hoping that the subfreezing temps here (NW FL) this weekend don't take out those blooms and baby apples. At least my grapes haven't broken dormancy yet, so hopefully I will be canning lots of grape jelly again this summer.
Yah. Me neither. LOL.
