A friend sent me this picture this evening, and the first thing I thought of is how my colleagues at FreeRepublic could generate tons of quips, one-liners, and what-not.

I mean, wow. Ticks on a snake?? Who do you root for?

In most cases, the snake will shed the ticks when it sheds its skin.
That said, this is probably the worst infestation of ticks I've ever seen on a snake. They seem to be blocking its vision and perhaps its mouth too.
I love snakes. I hope it survives long enough to shed its skin.

Who do you root for? Easy -- THE SNAKE.
Snakes are cool. Ticks are just fricking gross. Parasites in general are gross (with a possible few exceptions).
I've had ticks and removed them, and I've removed them from pets and children. They are just NASTY.
I hope the snake makes it past this infestation. My god what an awful thing. Poor snake.

I love snakes also but ticks are easy to remove. Years back one of my neighbors sons had an iguana and it had 3 ticks on it...She was grossed out just by the iguana, so she called me down to take the ticks off....I used tweezers but covering it with vaseline I think caused the tick to back out. also a match blown out immediately and put on the tick causes it to back out also...her kids were thrilled I got them off, but she was still grossed out when I got the iguana back in its cage....Raised 4 son's was use to such things, red belly snake in the garage, buckets of tadpoles also...you get use to it...

I found out that by just twirling ticks you can get them to pop out on their own....they get dizzy....did it for some on our dog.

I've heard that about vaseline and ticks too. It works on humans, from what I understand. When covered in vaseline, the ticks can't breathe, so they back out.
As for your four sons, I could be one of them. I grew up in the country with wild lizards, polliwogs, frogs, catfish, and snakes as pets, at one time or another.
Looking back at it now, my poor mom must have been a saint! Ha ha!

One of my boys found a dead squirrel and tried to blow it up with firecrackers...caught him just in time. They had so many holes in their walls from darts, I just papered the walls with burlap....solved the ugly problem. If you cannot beat them, join um....

Poor ball python. I am actually fond of these creatures..

    Oh, that poor baby!
From the looks of the pic, it’s getting medical attention. Good.

I thought you said t@ts on a snake. That would be a binary choice, neither outcome good.
 And snakes are fast.
