Sarah Palin in Washington DC, closing speech at CPAC this weekend--Will she endorse Newt soon?
February 6, 2012 | Ralph Mitchell

Sarah Palin is traveling to Washington DC to CPAC this weekend. Will she find time to endorse and campaign with Newt Gingrich during this trip away from Alaska? Sarah's endorsement would give Newt the well-deserved boost with the Tea Party people across the country. Palin's endorsement could also convince the American people that Rick Santorum is not in the same league as the Conservative Rock Star, Newt Gingrich. Sarah would be able to clarify for the majority of the American conservatives that Newt is a treasure for the American Conservative movement and for the mission of speaking the truth about America's values, principles and goals. Do my fellow freepers think that Sarah Palin will endorse and campaign with Newt leading up to the all-important Super Tuesday contests on March 6th?

No; she’ll string us along like the little tease that she turned out to be, though.

She has learned to play her adoring conservative fans like a fiddle. The media have taught her well. Her build-up is exquisite, but there’s no joy — it’s always “We’ll be back with more after this commercial...”

Just my 2c but I bet I’m dead on.

No. I think Sarah has given Newt a tacet endorsement through Todd, but she will not openly endorse. I think she is keeping her options open for the possibility of a brokered convention. And watching how the candidates have torn each other apart, it may have been the smart move.

She backed away from Newt pretty hard on Gretavision last night.

To each is own. I used to be a strong Palin supporter, but as the months turn into years I grow more and more UNimpressed with her.

She gave Newt a valuable push at a very integral moment, before SC. And clearly helped stop Romney from running away with it. But Newt has got to fly on his own, instead of floundering around like he has lately.

Right, but the internecine fighting is going to hurt in the long run.

The sooner Conservatives speak with one voice the BETTER!

She should use what remaining political capital she has before it no longer has value

At this point, I predict that even if she did it would have about as much effect as Donald Trump's endorsement of Mitt Romney.

I was a strong Palin supporter at one time as well. In fact, I still have the McCain-Palin (with McCain cut-off) bumper sticker plastered on my rear bumper from last election.

But there is show business and there is politics and, at this point, I'd have to say that Sarah Palin has settled on her career in the former.

At least with Palin you know you are getting a true blue conservative.

With Newt...you never know.

She’s pretty much self marginalized now. She had a big impact in 2010 with something like a 75% endorse to win rate; but now she’s a non entity.

Sad.

Hopefully not. Hopefully Santorum will do well today and gain momentum among conservatives.

Newt is one of the most flawed (in so many ways) Presidential candidates ever. He has no chance of being elected.

Why does she have to endorse anyone? Some of you seem to grasp at anything that allows you to criticize her.

Romney is now all but coronated. She wasn’t in for the penny when it would have mattered most, she will not be in for the pound when Newt is now all but finished.

She stuck her toes in the water a little bit on Newt. There was no reward in Florida for doing it. I doubt she will endorse anyone, at least until there is one guy against Romney.

She may not do it then either. She has nothing to gain by endorsing anyone.

I don't see the need for her to actually speak those words. If you can't read between the lines by now you probably don't want to.

“But Newt has got to fly on his own, instead of floundering around like he has lately.’

You got that right! And I think he will gain momentum over the next month, heading into super Tuesday.

I have been thorougly upset and frustrated since the FL debates. It amazes me how better than 60% on this forum can articulates things about Newt accurately, and then you get a sizable bunch that don’t see anything special him, and in fact find more in a person like Santorum, who is a good and decent person, but no where in the same ball park.

Sarah, was at the forefront two years ago in picking people to support. Many were not favorites. I think she supported some she shouldn’t have.

I THOUGHT PEOPLE FROM THE CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT WOULD RISE UP IN DROVES FOR NEWT. PEOPLE WITH WHOM HE WORKED WITH.

Instead we see the likes of people we all have come to respect attack Newt like the left attacks our people. People like Ann Coulter, etc.

Sarah should come out for Newt now. That would be the courageous thing to do. Santorum is poised to pick up some momentum here that will keep in the race a bit longer.

I’m convinced that he will drop out and support Romney at some point.

Has Todd been actually campaigning with Newt?
