Sitting here now smoking a pork shoulder...not exactly a NY dish, but I'm in MD now and have Virginians coming, so they get it. Son-in-law bringing Boston Baked Beans for the Pats symbol; also, my beautiful wife making pizza appetizers using sliced-in-half pita bread and fontina cheese. Veggies and dip, chips and dip (crab dip for MD), mac and cheese coming, potato salad and cole slaw for pulled pork. Also, Kosher hot dogs for friend who won't eat the pork...plus sauerkraut and fried onions to go with the dogs.
We are all Giants fans...so GO BLUE! We always have LaBatt's Blue at our tailgates in Jersey, so we have that ready too.
Nice...a keeper!
Sounds great...I remember meeting you at the Lyin’ King demonstration back in ‘98 or ‘99 when Clintoon went to the Broadway show.
We will use our halftime to eat our food and then have time for clean up before the second half begins. There is NO WAY IN HELL that we would watch halftime at all and haven’t for years much less with madonna as the star event. What a joke. Who needs the other more... madonna or the super bowl half time organizers. Bring back the marching bands...
1 lb fresh jalapeno peppers (about 22)
wash, slice in half, clean out seeds and stems - wear gloves
mix 1 package 8oz cream cheese, 1 cup parmesan cheese, 1 lb cooked bulk breakfast pork sausage.
when the sausage cools, mix with the cream cheese and parmesan.
stuff the jalapeno halves, bake at 350 for about 30 minutes.Enjoy!
The meatballs sound interesting. My husband made meatballs last week using fresh bread crumbs. What a difference it made!
The NFL picks the "talent" LOL so Roger Goodell is the prime suspect.
The local paper refers to her as the "aging pop star"
Our church is having a party in the gym. The men’s group is cooking burgers but everyone’s supposed to brings sides and other stuff. I’m bringing chili-cheese dip (homemade), some chips, and a little treat I found at a food-service show.
Take a bag of Tim’s Cascade Chips (fantastic local brand, but any STURDY kettle-cooked chips will do), spread them out on a baking sheet, top with crumbled bacon and a LOT of shredded cheddar (we use Tillamook). Stick in an oven at about 375 until the cheese is melted and just bubbly. Remove the pan and serve immediately. Not exactly the healthiest thing...but it’s GOOD.
Party is at my cigar club. We have to bring our own cigars, and hard stuff if we want. (but this is never a problem!) I'm pretty sure that there will be megafood and beer provided at cost, probably about twenty bucks a head. Two flatscreen TVs, and one projection TV. ($80 for Patriots fans!)
Madonna has promised to “gay up” the Superbowl. I bet there will be lesbian kissing and dirty dancing going on. It’s not like she has not given warning, the NFL and whatever network better not say they were surprised.
One more thing I am doing is printing out the rosters (in number order) so folks will know who they are and where they went to college.
Oy. I hate the half-time show.
lol.
That looks delish!
YUCK! Will not be watching halftime show.....Time to refill drinks get a fresh bag of chips and watch the PUPPY BOWL!! LOL.....
The Puppy Bowl and the Kitty half time show sounds better than the Superbowl right now.
Sunday cooking schedule:
8AM: Put pot roast into crock pot. Add can of french onion soup. Cover. Turn pot on high.
4PM: Add potatoes ,carrots, onions.
6PM: Unplug, take to party.
It also happens to be my mother’s 87th birthday. Slow cooked, smoked baby back ribs, baked beans, macaroni & cheese, corn on the cob and carrot cake.
No cheese. No beer. No Packers.
We’re still pretty sad up here in Packerland.
Enjoy the game. I’ll be looking for an old movie.
Now you've done it!
I was reluctant to drive down to visit a friend near Cedar Key. Price of gas and all.
But the thought of stone crabs might just drive me over the edge.
