Have you tried a flat mainspring housing? I have small to medium hands and I put the flat housing on all my 1911’s. I have a Light Weight Commander that feels like it was born in my hand.

naw....the only guns that feel uncomfortable in my mitts are my pocket pistols...they are too small and my bottom finger has to tuck under the grip. I had to put oversize grips on my Model 19 S&W.

The Bobtail MSH is an Ed Brown patent, and Dan Wesson’s been licensing for their bobtails for years. Kimber’s is a copy, so is this Sig design.

Quite a few DW’s in the house, including His and Hers C-Bobs and Marksmans, and others in 9mm and 10mm (my personal fav).

Probably a nice piece but nothing really new or unique.

We will see if they can stand apart from the crowd on price. Otherwise it is another tricked out 1911 IMHO.

And - should six .357 rounds fail to eliminate your immediate threat, never mind higher capacity: you probably shouldn’t own a handgun anyway!

Depends on your situation. Against a single attacker, yes. If you're trying to get out of a riot, the more rounds the better.

My wife wants to upgrade to a semi-auto. She doesn't like the feel of my Kimbers, Colts, Sigs, at all. However she is receptive to the FN 5.7 and the 22 mag. Kel Tec. She also likes Glocks. She works in a bad area and I might just get her one.

I was thinking last night that instead of the semi-auto M4 and shotgun she has in the trunk, if she does persist with the 5.7, I might have to make her a SBR version of the PS 90 ;)

However, both the FN products are WAY overpriced, but the high capacity, light weight, and low recoil do make me want to consider these expensive firearms a "GO" for the females in our family.

It is inherently safe and can sleep loaded for months or years...

If someone is going years without practicing or exercising their choice of personal protection, they may find their own skill sub-par to the requirements of the situation.

Then perhaps your threat didn't enter your premises alone, compounded problem if you didn't practice your aim and response for years.

Wow... nice looking pistol. That rounded mainspring housing and grip frame rather remind me of the "melt" you showed me that time. :-)

I can say one thing though...and this is from 12 years experience of lugging the same Colt Series 80 around... it's gonna look like it's been carried after a number of years. Our favorite Hammer Monkey didn't even want to refinish it for me! :-) He said he "would", but then realized what he had in his hands and said, "This is your carry gun right?" I said, "Yup". He said, "It's just gonna look like hell in another couple of years!" :-)

I get the biggest kick out of companies advertising the best 1911 after 100 years now. :-) How cool is that?! :-)

The bobtail thing is very strange. How can it possibly help? The web of the thumb is not what I’d call a structural element. Also, M1911A1, you must be joking with your ‘nic. Firing a .45 is like having a steak with an old friend.

Naw, bobtailing is good.
If you carry InsideWaistBand (IWB) it's usually just behind the point of the hip and a good holster will pull the grip in against the kidney or small of back, depending on where it rides). Very concealable, even a 5-inch 1911 like mine.
Problem comes in any time you extend, bend over, the back end of the grip, right there where a bob tail rounds it over, pokes up your cover garment and is pretty obvious.
You learn to squat, not bend.

And that's a steak AND a nice Cabernet.

Got it! Shooting-wise, though, I don't think I'd appreciate a non-functional lip around my hand. That said, de gustibus non est disputandum.
