Seems a roller would add a surface with a lot of drag.

I rode on a Ford Tri-Motor in the early 30’s. Wicker seats and windows that you could open were features you don’t see today.

I remember calling the 737 either FLUF or Fat Albert.

I think many of those quality flight attendants are still working.

I used to fly between Dallas and Houston on Southwest in the 70s and 80s. 15 bucks oneway, no reservations needed, no invasive searches and the best looking flight attendants in hot pants. the only way I'll fly now is a have to case, instead I'd rather drive for 3 days.

They were hot, and they weren’t ashamed to be called “Stewardess”.
The New Castrati gave us the term “Flight Attendant”.

I don’t have much experience with United. I’m from Dallas, so I primarily flew American growing up, as I will be tomorrow.
Now that their Ch. 11, who knows?

United is based in Chicago, so their union is the union of unions.

Given the shape of the windows, they appear to be in a
Sud Caravelle.

I wonder what benefits, breaks and support the Swiss government gives their flagship air carrier? versus what United gets from our government.

Hate to disagree, but back in the 80's when I worked for People Express and later, Continental the 747's were whales and the 737's were guppies.
The stylized stickers on the cases that the pilots carried their charts in even had those nicknames on them. It was a Boeing thing, whale vs. guppy, having nothing to do with the actual transport aircraft known as the guppy.
