The photos are interesting in that they represent different times in culture.

Though discussed here many times, it's always shocking to see the quality of flight attendants in the 60's and 70's.

In the early 1970’s I worked at Denver’s Stapleton airport on the fueling system for United and Continental. The workers on the tarmac referred to the 737’s as “pigs”, because they were short and fat.

Flew a United flight from Zurich to the U.S. (WDC-Dulles) on Jan. 24th. Very disappointing (10+ hour trans-Atlantic)flight. Older aircraft; older, lousy "entertainment" system. Food was subpar - steward staff was "cheery" though.

Flew Swiss Air going over and then on another long leg R/T part of my trip, and hands down, a super nice air travel experience; puts the United flight to shame.

Executive flight
( United Airlines photo )

On board an Executive Flight in 1967. The flight, which was for men only, ran from 1953-1970.

My how times have changed!

In pic 25 it shows the passengers sitting on patio furniture, that’s classic.

I fly United Rome - Dulles - Rome three or four times a year. Their service is good but the crews are very.... experienced shall we say?

My first flight was in early '67 and it was on United.
I was fresh out of Parris Island, in uniform and the stewardesses treated me like gold.
I never forgot that and flew United whenever possible for over four decades.
