When Newt Gingrich scolded CNN's John King at the South Carolina debate, he didn't just stand up to the media; he smacked down Saul Alinsky. When a candidate can do that, he won't just bloody Barack Obama's nose, he can deliver a knock-out punch to Alinsky's prized ideological protege.
Take a look at Rule number five in Alinsky's Rules for Radicals, which states:
Ridicule is mans most potent weapon. Its hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.
This is exactly what King attempted to do by bringing up the charges made by Newt's ex-wife in an interview with ABC's Brian Ross. Did King infuriate Gingrich by asking the question right out of the gate? Yes. Did Gingrich react to King's advantage? Absolutely not. He channeled the fury of conservatives and successfully delivered a counterattack squarely on the jaw of a biased, liberal media bully; King had been stunned in epic fashion.
Conservatives know that the mainstream media is running interference for Barack Obama while attempting to portray objectivity. Deceit, once exposed, arouses righteous anger. Gingrich did just that. He did it thoroughly...

And, AND, Newt gives it a name, in so many words, that makes it recognizable for all to see, the left and the right... Mitt tries to propitiate it by mislabeling it or by averting his gaze from it altogether.
As have my DH and I. My DH had never watched a political debate in full before. Newt grabbed his attention and held it.
To put it succinctly, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”... Newt has done much to activate the gag-reflex, nevertheless, he is the only one who has championed our cause, or at the very least, given voice against the political-media complex. I’ll be voting for whoever the nominee is. And on Sup-Tue, I won’t know who to vote for till I pull the lever... at this point it could be any one of them... make no mistake, love for Newt has nothing to do with it...
exactly why mittens can’t win against Obambie
Mitt is commanded by his church to never read anything that is not church-approved. To him, Rule #5 would be THIS Rule #5:
5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
I'm confident that Mitt believes he is called by God to save the constitution and that he will be put in place to do so.
At this point, I am not confident any of the remaining 4 can beat Obama. The national polls show Mitt tied with Obama and Newt/Santorum about 20 points back each. Obama will spend a billion dollars, plus all his media hounds to find every blemish on whoever the (R) candidate is. This is going to be ugly in the fall. But so much is at stake.
I’ve always admired Newt Gingrich because he is an idea faucet. The man doesn’t let the labels, ‘liberal’ or ‘conservative’, get in the way of at least analyzing what will or will not work to the advantage of America’s citizenry.
Per Jim Robinson:
Newts rebirth agenda: Repeal Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, and Sarbanes-Oxley! Fire the czars! Fire Bernanke! Neuter the Fed and the EPA! Shutter Health, Education, Housing, Labor, Energy, etc. (cant remember them all). Return the 185 some odd socialized federal welfare programs to the states and the people where they can either control them locally or shut them down. Privatize social security and Medicare and or return them to the states and the people. Go to a personal flat tax of 15% after deductions. Reduce the corporate tax rate to 12.5%. Eliminate the capital gains tax. Eventually eliminate the payroll tax after social security is privatized and phased out.
Newt left elective government service in 1995. He has had fifteen years in the private sector for that all important perspective on how government has failed to serve its citizens.
Above all, he is a fighter and will not back down from a confrontation, particularly if he believes himself right and the other full of bull shit!
Well written and informative. Thanks for taking the time to write it and for posting!
And as for Politico calling Gingrich a "secret pal of the press," how easily you fall for their propaganda. Wake up! It's a laughably transparent ploy to try to disarm their alleged "pal" as he actually takes the fight to them (the media) and their Dearest Leader Barack Hussein Obama.
And every blemish from the “R” candidate will be compared against Obambie’s record, regardless of how much money he spends...
One of the reasons Newt’s smackdown was so effective was the bumbling CNN director’s attempt to save their boy, King.
If you re-watch the video, you’ll see that the second Newt’s rant began, King’s pretty face froze in panic, his second-rate intellect clearly in evidence. He had no idea what to do.
The director would only cut to King with that hilarious, pathetic expression for mere seconds at a time. He kept cutting back to Newt and kept the camera on him for the duration of the rant — something they NEVER do in a normal debate, normal being defined as their hosts in control with those insufferable, smug “gotcha” expressions.
The director did his boy no favors by keeping him off camera, because the only other choice was to keep Newt ON camera. He’s probably being upbraided in a staff meeting right now for not thinking to cut to Romney or the audience.
One thing is for sure, we’re never gonna defeat Obama and his protective media coccoon by being nice - the clueless McCain tried that 4 years ago, and we saw the result.
Like Stephen Harper said awhile back, after years of enduring the Liberal Party’s taunts & tricks - “Politics is the bloodiest of sports”.
We need a pitbull like Newt in there to shove Obama’s incompetence and idiocy into the headlines, and over the media’s objections.
Can Mitt do that? Mitt is a wimp who just wants to get along, and have a gentleman’s debate. Mitt will get eaten alive.
Prediction - the longer Newt stays in the race, focussing on Obama’s long list of liablilities that the MSM refuses to talk about, the lower Obama’s approval ratings will go. No wonder the White House and their media ass-kissers are desperate to get Newt out of the race!
>>...Why all the love for Gingrich?...<<
Because compared to Romney, Santorum and Paul, who else is there to love? But seriously, when a GOP candidate runs, they are running against the DEM candidate *AND* the Lib-dominated MSM combined.
Of the remaining candidates, which one(s) can/would effectively and *eagerly* engage the media and the dem candidate as well as Gingrich can?
There is no perfect candidate. But at this point, Gingrich (warts, skeletons and all) looks to be the best choice of the options available. AND I stress “best candidate of the options available” which is different from “perfect candidate”. There is no perfect candidate and there never will be.
POW! Knockout punch!
Care to elaborate on that? Evidently pessimist cannot any longer.
It gets goofier around here every day.
Newt has already called Obama the MOST dangerous POTUS in our history. He’s not afraid to confront the radical-in-chief.
Describing all that Obama has behind him with money, organization, and media, is also what Romney has in this primary, yet Gingrich is showing us what he can do when faced with that kind of candidate.
In the general Gingrich will have his own billion dollars, his own vast party and organization, he can handle Obama in a way that the white Obama, Mitt Romney, can’t.
When Newt Gingrich scolded CNN's John King at the South Carolina debate, he didn't just stand up to the media; he smacked down Saul Alinsky.
