UNBELIEVABLE?! Newt Loves FDR, Models Himself After Woodrow Wilson and Admires SEIUs Andy Stern Tuesday, Dec 13, 2011 at 3:52 PM EST
ts not as if Newt couldnt have known his past comments were going to eventually be called into question. Hes capably navigated his way through his big government tendencies so far and miraculously still has solid support in the Tea Party. Will the latest damaging clip have any impact? Gingrich is caught praising his favorite president of the 20th century: FDR. Yup, he picked the mother of all progressives ahead of Ronald Reagan.
Watch the video montage below:
Cue sound of heads exploding across the country NOW!
Seriously?! This is unbelievable.
This goes back to what Newt Gingrich said on this program. You got to get things done. Thats akin to saying we all love the Constitution but there are things we got to do, Glenn warned.
FDR did get things done, and then they were ruled unconstitutional, Stu joked.
But thats not the worst thing on the clip at the top of the page Glenn reads a story where Gingrich praised SEIUs Andy Stern in one of his books.
In his book Real Chance: From the World That Fails to the World That Works, Gingrich praises the SEIU head, who remains a close adviser of the President Obama. Pitching the need for conservatives to respect organized labor, while simultaneously pushing back against some of Labors more cherished legislative goals, he wrote the following:
Conservatives cannot cheer unions overseas and then be blindly anti-union here at home. There are legitimate historic reasons for workers to organize together, and there is a strong need for a healthy, competitive, union, movement that helps improve the lives of its members and the competitiveness of our country.

Reagan was a big admirer of FDR as well.
Well said. Newt is super on many fronts: reining in an activist judiciary, ending sanctuary cities, and abolishing Obamacare. The question that we must keep asking is whether he or Santorum is more electable in the general. The idea is to crush Obama. We have several toss up states, Obama has $1B in campaign funds, and Gingrich has a history of erratic moves. Shoveling all this under the rug doesn’t help Gingrich. I must concede that Beck is now over the top and his departure form Fox was well deserved for his histrionics if nothing else. But the proper task is to show why he’s a parody and not simply act like the proverbial three monkeys.
Your ‘GROUPTHINK’ Alinksy tactic doesn’t work either.
Got anything else? So far you are batting zero.
What does your friend beck have to say about Mitt? Where is beck’s rant on Mitt or Santorum. Get fetch - we want to see those rants.
Christians believe in forgiveness. You have to ask yourself, is Newt Gingrich likely to continue in long past behaviors? Or has he moved on to become an outstanding citizen in his private life? Is Gingrich going to be another Bill Clinton in the White House hitting on the interns?
The answers that I have concluded is no, yes, and no.
Therefore this should be a non-issue.
I like Beck a lot, so it bugs me when he gets overwrought and misses the context.
I remember when he interviewed Palin and was disturbed when she couldn’t name her favorite Founding Father. He had done a really good series of shows on the Founders which were in my opinion excellent. No one does on TV the kinds of things Beck was doing, and it was great in my opinion. If you watched his show regularly, you knew what he was driving at.
If you didn’t, and he asked you who was your favorite founder, you’d probably fumble like she did. He has since warmed up to her, but I remember for a while he was suspicious of her.
Similarly, if you have followed Gingrich, you know that complimenting his opponents is classic Gingrich. He compliments them, quotes approvingly from their books, and uses their own words to present his own case in contradiction to theirs. It gets him in trouble sometimes, sometimes it falls a bit flat, but when he is on top of his game it is masterful to watch.
“He does NOT compare to the idiot Mathews...”
Yah he does. He is just another celebrity pretender. Tired of them all.
He’s pimping a liberal R for President only because they both share the same religion.
No core values in someone who does that.
Wiki is not a source.
Get real.
A lot people say they are conservatives, but then look at what they are for????
It seems that's a BIG PART of WHY we cannot get the RIGHT guy in office. It's also why our Republic continues to drift to the left.... and will continue unless this is clear and concise. I do understand to finding the purest conservative is difficult. Pretty much ever Republican Candidate has some LEFTIST ideas.
Think about this...
Bush 41 and 43 were a labeled a Conservatives to some people.
Newt is considered conservative to some people
Ron Paul is considered conservative.
Heck Ann Coulter thinks Mitt Romney is enough of a conservative that she supports him.
Plus there is a lot of misinformation on what is Left vs. Right. For instance, whenever Socialist/Communist can't win an argument they attack the Conservative by calling him Nazi. The Nazis as most of us already know were National Socialist. So to say a Right Left wing is absurd, wrong and only a smear tactic.
At any rate it needs to be redefined so that everyone is on the same page. This IMHO is why we cannot seem to get a real Conservative in the White House. IMHO we have NOT had a conservative since Ronald Reagan.
I heard that, as well. Were you listening when the woman called him and said that, while she was not a Newt supporter, she believed he had repented and found redemption? Glenn openly mocked her: “Really? And where did you read that? Can you tell me where I can find that?”
I found the exchange interesting. I have a condescending email from Pat Gray, Beck’s sidekick, in which he says to me about Romney, “His positions were in the past. What about redemption? Do you believe in that?”
I guess the standards are different for Romney and Newt....
Newt is like that way. And with his conservative Constitutional ways he will be remembered as one of the true savior of America and its return to the values of our founders.
I do think Beck supports Romney for the LDS ties, but he knows if it’s in the bag for Mitt he doesn’t have to openly support him. He is free to pretend that he really likes Santorum (unlikely to beat Mitt) while attacking “closet progressive” Newt (the one that is beating Mitt).
Beck will become more aggressive towards Newt when he seem him blasting by Romney from here on.
Beck has just about succeeded in committing public career suicide. It shouldn’t be much longer.
Based on some of the comments on this thread “followers” is an accurate description.
Exactly right. But then we have some GROUPTHINK on this thread who don’t seem willing or capable to making this inquiry. Some have made some good contrapuntal arguments, others simply go hysterical on any kind of Newt info that portrays him either as a flip-flopper or unelectable.
I guess the standards are different for Romney and Newt....
Yes, I catch Beck and his side-kick in contradictions all the time.
