UNBELIEVABLE?! Newt Loves FDR, Models Himself After Woodrow Wilson and Admires SEIUs Andy Stern Tuesday, Dec 13, 2011 at 3:52 PM EST
ts not as if Newt couldnt have known his past comments were going to eventually be called into question. Hes capably navigated his way through his big government tendencies so far and miraculously still has solid support in the Tea Party. Will the latest damaging clip have any impact? Gingrich is caught praising his favorite president of the 20th century: FDR. Yup, he picked the mother of all progressives ahead of Ronald Reagan.
Watch the video montage below:
Cue sound of heads exploding across the country NOW!
Seriously?! This is unbelievable.
This goes back to what Newt Gingrich said on this program. You got to get things done. Thats akin to saying we all love the Constitution but there are things we got to do, Glenn warned.
FDR did get things done, and then they were ruled unconstitutional, Stu joked.
But thats not the worst thing on the clip at the top of the page Glenn reads a story where Gingrich praised SEIUs Andy Stern in one of his books.
In his book Real Chance: From the World That Fails to the World That Works, Gingrich praises the SEIU head, who remains a close adviser of the President Obama. Pitching the need for conservatives to respect organized labor, while simultaneously pushing back against some of Labors more cherished legislative goals, he wrote the following:
Conservatives cannot cheer unions overseas and then be blindly anti-union here at home. There are legitimate historic reasons for workers to organize together, and there is a strong need for a healthy, competitive, union, movement that helps improve the lives of its members and the competitiveness of our country.

Obama, in an election year, created a slogan ("We Can't Wait") to market his extra-constitutional efforts to regulate his way around Congress. In a second-term, he won't even bother trying to sell such efforts to the public. He'll just do as he pleases.
If he wins re-election, we have ourselves a dictator. Congress isn't going to stop him.
“I personally think our only hope is with congress.
I dont personally believe the GOP has any intent of taking the white house at this point when it serves their purpose to sit on the sidelines. Why shouldnt they, theres plenty of money to be made on insider trading and green energy scams.”
You may be right. I’m glad Michigan knows how to still steer right in some places.
At one point, Beck has said there is no political solution. I’m sure you’ve heard that. He’s got his own network and is entitled to do with it as he sees fit.
I will say that our congresspeople should wear flashes on their suit coats to advertise who bought them. Now that Chris Dodd is the MMPA head (can you believe that?) and has even said that such and such a congressperson won’t be paid.....it just feels like the stuff of the Ottoman Tulip period or the corruption of Louis XIV. The sheer amount of money flowing to corrupt companies, the chess plays made out of sight by 0bama’s goons, the ‘foreign company’ election software/Clarity-driven vote counters. It’s like a whole host of people, entities, and foreign enemies are going in for the kill.
A certain major is paying no merit raises this year. Their management is expecting something. IMF is warning that 2008 is only harbinger of a deeper development and degradation.
We had 40,000 new laws go on the books at the beginning of 2012. Thanks to Dodd-Frank and its built-in corruption, bank regulators can write law ON THE FLY/AT WILL and these will be the law of the land. These are the people being hired as bank auditors.
We are being robbed blind, and many in congress are in on it.
Then, there’s the whole positioning of the muslim brotherhood in the highest places of our government. The Shanksville memorial is an outdoor mosque, for cry-eyed.
I believe over 75% of our congressmen have been compromised. Those and others are in fear of their and their families lives.
We are fighting the mob, AKA, the unions. And you don’t fight these types with strongly worded letters.
There’s a YouTube video where Newt says (when asked about “rape and incest”) he was in favor of federally-funded abortions. It was from the same appearance on (de)Face the Nation as this article mentions:
Don’t tell me...he’s flip-flopped on that too?
Glenn:
You are cracked and will say anything to remain relevant to your paycheck.
You’ve made plenty of money.
Go get a job as Carnival Barker.
There is a lot of evidence that this is true.
Yep.
Did you hear him calling Newt a “Dirt Bag” on his show? I did. He and those idiot friends of his. Yucking it up like they think they’re in the mainstream of American or even conservative thought. I can’t identify with what this guy says any more. Either with Ann Coulter, who I am sure is getting drunk on Mai Tais at the moment.
ML/NJ
I’ve watched that video a few times, and I stand by my original comment. In that it doesn’t sound like Newt is praising his policies, just merely respecting the fact that FDR had a large impact on the course of history. This is true.
Seriously though, it’s just a collation of sliced video clips drawn from over decades of Newt’s speaking. I wouldn’t read that much into given the entire lack of context.
Beck is irrelevant. Hes gone off the deep end.
Beck is irrelevant. Hes gone off the deep end.
And, FYI, Beck is not supporting Romney, and has not been the whole cycle.
_________________________________________________________
So where has Beck attacked the RINO Romney the way he has attacked the conservative candidates. My guess is that you won’t be able to produce anything.
He is an attack dog for his fellow Mormon, of course he won’t endorse him publicly at this point it would detract from his Mormon Mission.
I read the article. I didn’t know Newt was against school prayer also.
Newt will win SC.
Team Obama is smiling today.
“Im amazed sitting here watching FReepers go Alinsky on Beck.
But he is telling the truth.”
NO! Glenn Beck is twisting the truth and only presenting one side of a slanted argument. Newt’s compass is pointed toward Conservatism. Does he deviate some? Yes, we know that. Even Ronald Reagan deviated from Conservatism. But he always comes back to his true compass point which is Conservatism. GO NEWT GO!
First thing to remember is that Glenn is a Mormon. So you know where his vote is going. Second thing to remember about Glenn is that He was likely passed out with his face in the peanuts at his local watering hole when Newt Gingrich was balancing the budget, reforming welfare and lowering taxes in spite of a Democratic president.
In away this article shows how biased Glenn Beck is in presenting the so called facts. It is much more damning on Glenn than on Newt.
Beck, whom I think is just north of nuts, thinks Mitt Romney is a big government Republican and has never supported him. He did support Bachmann and my guess is that he now supports Santorum, a Catholic. Go figure.
How is attacking Beck for his past drinking any different than attacking Gingrich for his past serial-philandering?
Take it or leave it I don’t care.
