Neat infographic on Bill Gates from Frugal Dad. Since 2007 Gates has given away 48% of his net worth, or $28 billion, which has helped save 6 million lives. It takes a second for the graphic to load.

Just imagine how many more lives he could have saved if he had just given that money to the federal government, where it rightly belongs. /s
All politics aside, the hyper-rich, as I’ll call them, only have theoretical wealth. When you have amassed, for argument’s sake, a billion dollars, unless it’s in tangible assets (like real estate or similar), you’ll never be able to liquidate it all to realize the full wealth.
Put a different way, in Gates’ instance, he has the vast percentage of his wealth tied up in the stock of his own company. If he were to begin selling it, the stock price would plummet, thereby lowering his net wealth by billions. His $60 billion in wealth would conceivably fall by more than half. Proof? Imagine you have a bunch of Microsoft stock and the primary stock holder on the planet is selling millions of shares. Your reaction to this? “Something must be up. I better sell mine!” The price reaction to all these sellers? A stock price in the veritable toilet.
So these extremely wealthy people really are limited to giving away their wealth and having those distributed benefactors liquidate or otherwise convert the wealth to liquid assets (read: cash).
The world won’t be saved through Charity. When on Earth, Jesus wasn’t impressed by the philanthropy of the wealthy - why should we be?
Money wasted on the UN
“How many lives have you saved?”
Oh my gosh - you are right. I’ll just jump into my foundation’s Boeing BBJ and fly to my foundation’s European headquarter where after a few days of “meetings” I’ll write out a check for money I would have given to the government anyway.
It’s like going to the carnival with someone who knows how all the games are rigged - once you know how the scam is played, it’s just darn hard to be impressed.
(As you may have guessed, I’ve worked for several VERY rich people in my lifetime.)
This is all Blah Blah Blah. So these peoples lives are saved. Now who is going to clothe and feed them for the rest of thier lives in some third world hell hole? Knock, knock, knock, here comes the UN with an “international tax”. (hold on to your hats, whiteys).
“Developed countries send their money to him and this leftist, elitist dork believes he is too altruistic to use any of his money to address ANY problems in developed countries.”
My wife’s parents have both done quite well in their professions and have a foundation. And while their foundation is nothing like the Gates Foundation, they have been able to give millions to causing ranging from children’s hospitals, higher educational institutions, charter schools and other assorted domestic and international NGO’s.
They do great work and receive many grant proposals and letters simply requesting donations. And while the vast majority of grants and letters cannot be fulfilled, the one thing thing that is not welcome are letters telling them how their money should be spent.
There are a lot of people in the US that don’t have clean water, plumbing or food.
This is the same as letting illegals get in-state tuition.
If we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower the global population by perhaps 10 or 15 percent." [i.e. a billion deaths] - Bill Gates
I wish I were that good! Chicks would be after me in every country on the planet!
While I agree on the first sentence (although being born poor in the US doesn’t guarantee failure), I don’t understand the second sentence.
Illegals getting in-state tuition comes from the pockets of the public (via taxes, lost revenue, etc.).
Bill Gates spending HIS money where HE wants is his business and his business alone. If he spent it on another awsome Porsche collection, I couldn’t care less.
Windows still sucks.
Always has.
Always will.
Philanthropy as propaganda was pioneered by John D. (the dimes for little boys bit) and perfected by Howard Hughes (the Hughes Medical Foundation, which was never anything to him but a giant tax dodge).
People at this level have usually been the beneficiaries of government created or supported monopolies. Normally free market competition would keep them from getting so big, but they use exclusive or penalizing contracts to beat down their suppliers, and lobby for laws and government contracts to further cement their position.
MS was never different; Gates forced PC makers to pay him whether a shipped computer had DOS or Windows on it or not. Any attempt to ship a Linux box, for instance, or DR-DOS back in the old days, simply cost you extra.
Gates and his merry band of Harvard gang-bangers learned everything they did from their parents who were old line connected monopolists and government operatives (like his mommy at IBM) and benefited from GSA purchasing directives in ways Boeing can never dream of.
He's only doing it for the money.
CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME.
Don’t some of his foundations support abortions?
If so, you need to subtract that number.
For Crimes Against Mother Gaea
Bill Gates
Count 1: Unauthorized Life Saving in Contravention of World Law
Count 2: Redistribution of Personal Wealth Outside Established Government Channels
That means reducing the worlds population by about 90-95%, not saving lives.
Ditto !
How many babies has he and his globalist pals aborted and women sterilized? What does he require of the moms seeking “free” health care from him?
Bingo!
