JACKSONVILLE, NC (WECT/WITN) A man wanted for first degree murder in the Atlanta area was arrested in Onslow County. Deputies in Onslow County say the man hid a large handgun in a body cavity.
According to the sheriff's office, Trooper Scott Merritt spotted Michael Ward driving more than 90 mph on Highway 17. He and another trooper from Duplin County worked together to stop Ward.
Highway Patrol told WITN Ward rolled up his windows and locked his car when troopers approached. Both he and a woman in his vehicle claiming to be his wife refused to roll down the windows.
WITN is reporting troopers were able to get the door open and had to taze Ward, who was then taken to the hospital after complaints of heart problems and being unable to walk.
The sheriff's office said Ward was examined at the hospital and released back into Trooper Merritt's custody, who took Ward to be booked into the jail.
Ward was strip searched before being booked and underwent the standard "squat and cough" procedure. According to the sheriff's office, Ward used another person's identity during the arrest and booking process.
Detention officers found a .38 caliber handgun in Ward's cell the next day. Jailers eventually discovered Ward stored the 6-inched barrel gun in his rectum. He will be taken to the hospital for examination of possible injuries.
The sheriff's office said the gun was not loaded at the time, but was test fired by investigators to determine its functionality, and it was in operational condition.
Ward is wanted for a homicide that happened in the Atlanta area in October 2011.
Investigators with the Onslow County Sheriff's Office are assisting the Atlanta Police Department with their investigation.
Rectum hell, damn near killed him.
Apparently, the gerbil turned him in.
He was taken to the hospital, AFTER the gun was discovered in the toilet, to check his rectum for injuries.
You can bet on one thing: This isn’t the first thing that has been inserted in that rectum.
Kevin Jennings , Obama’s fisting Czar must have taught this kid in school.
..complained of heart problems and unable to walk.

Uh, pretty good reason for not being able to walk, no?
And you thought a finger wave was uncomfortable.
BTW maybe, just maybe, the 8” barrel may have found its way up the Hershey Highway but how does that explain the grip, trigger housing and hammer etal being lodged far enough up to ‘pass’ a body cavity search.
That said, just how much time has this guy spent in jail? and the girlfriend most definitely must be a ‘beard’.
Apparently these NC deputies aren’t grads of the TSA body search program..
He made two trips to the hospital. Once before he was booked into t5he jail and again after the gun was found.
Exact reason why I don’t fly anymore.
If a ‘guy’ gets that close to me I am going to expect dinner and if a ‘gal’ gets that close she may get a little surprise.
good thing it wasn’t a .500 S & W

bump. Nobody will believe this if I can’t quote the article.

“Excuse me while I whip this out.”
This is entirely misreported. The suspect was simply storing his revolver in a standard in-the-butt holster, available at any sporting goods store or pharmacy. Several models can be found next to the in-the-pants, on-the-hip, in-the-waistband, or in-the-bellybutton holsters. /lame humor
Hell, it damned near split him!
I remember the first time I heard that one. It was around 1978. Yet, it was the first thing I thought when I read the headline.
There are more comfortable options than packing in your "prison holster".
Diagnosis, Explosive diarhea
Butt, did he have a concealed weapons license ?
