India shares its country with leopards, which is both a blessing and a curse. Another leopard-on-human attack has taken place, and left one man dead, and four injured, including a man that was scalped by the cat. The leopard strolled into Gauhati located in southeast India and started his rampage of killing. The Belfast Telegraph has a picture of the cat attacking a man.

I recall seeing a documentary once about refugees fleeing Zimbabwe for South Africa. They would have to cross hundreds of miles of country and national park.
The people making the trek mistakenly believed that banging pots would scare away lions.
the lions instead quickly learned that the clanging sound meant their home-delivery pizza had arrived.
Wow is right. Those videos are amazing. Strong, fast, sharp teeth and claws... impressive animal.
I guess India has not yet fully grasped the concept of shoot, shovel and shutup.
Sounds like a job for Jim Corbett.

They were huddled around a fire on a cold night in a land broken with scrub and thornbush and occaisonal trees, talking about what they would hunt the next day, while the old skinner told his son to watch how he used a special knife to remove flesh from the skin of the cape, and that the eyelids were the trickiest part. He turned to see if his son was paying attention, but his son was gone.
After calling for him, they raised a gas lantern and saw behind where the skinner and his son had been sitting, the paw prints of a large leopard, and the marks of a body being dragged. It had evidentally struck for the skull and immediately pierced the brain, killing him instantly and without a sound, and dragged him away with none of them seeing anything.
It's a technique common to both leopards and jaguars...they're also the most intelligent of the predatory cats. It's no surprise to hear that the victim in the article had his scalp ripped off, sounds like the leopard was missing a step that day.
Get the spray bottle.
Big man-eating kitty ping!
Whoa..thanks for sharing..I think! Man they are powerful!

The one and only!

Sasha Siemel was no slacker either, hunted them with a spear in Brazil.
No kidding. They don’t make’em like that anymore.
Yep, these cats are the most dangerous predator to humans, period.
They can shadow you step-by-step in perfect silence from a few feet away and hit you before you realize you even heard anything . At night, a person stands no chance even with the most powerful weapon.
Thankfully, they don't normally enjoy the taste of human flesh. However, history has recorded a few of these critters developing a taste for humans and having hundreds of confirmed kills. The hunting parties sent to kill them were often stalked and eaten one-by-one.
Late to run, but sometime I'll relate how Capstick killed that leopard...equally spooky.
Large predators are only intimidated by humans when armed humans kill predators on sight, and the lesson has had a chance to propagate through the species.
In the US, wolves, bears, and mountain lions used to avoid humans because only the ones who avoided humans passed on their genes. Now after a few decades of unarmed humans being the norm in their environments, they are discovering that humans are soft and tasty.
I too love Corbett’s books. “The Man Eating Leopard of Rudrapryag” and “The Temple Tiger” are also great reading by Corbett. Also check out “Trader Horn” (great reading about trading with Africa’s natives) and “Hunter” by John Hunter.
