Rapid City - right. Sioux Falls - left.
Can you go anywhere? I recommend Annapolis, MD. It is a great town and is conservative since the Naval Academy is here.
Absolutely fabulous place to live, save for one little problem.......... COLD!
I’ve never been there. But in true FReeper fashion - that won’t stop me from opining.
DON’T GO THERE!!!
that is all
I’m from Fargo. You’ll find pretty conservative folks anywhere in South Dakota, although like ND, they tend to be even more conservative in the western part of the state. The state government is very conservative and consequently things are going great down there. Of course, things are booming here in North Dakota.
S.Dakota is a nice state. Though I prefer the western 1/2
Check out siouxfalls.com. I grew up there and it’s a nice little city. It’s a lot more left than it used to be, but overall a pretty conservative place. Traffic jams are rare, except out by Empire Mall.
My cousin and his family moved their business there 20 years ago to escape Minnesota’s decidedly unfriendly business climate. They love it there. A big plus is no state income tax, though they do charge sales tax on clothes and food.
The town benefits greatly from Minnesota Tax refugees.
I’ll take your question as an invitation to post this. Good luck on your decision!
Considering Relocating? Think about Colorado Springs
I f you or a CONSERVATIVE person is considering relocating, Id invite you to tell them about this family values oasis.
Id personally suggest Northern Colorado Springs as being the best and the most conservative.
And just to lay my cards on the table, I am not in the Real Estate business and make nothing off anyone moving here. I just know that Soros and others have dumped millions into Colorado and have succeeding in taking over the state government for the first time in decades recently.
The Springs loses out to Denver and Boulder in the state elections but it is still close enough to make a difference.
Pass this along.
18. El Paso County, Colo.
Largest city: Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs is the right-wing stronghold of Colorado. The Air Force Academy and NORAD are based in the county. About 19 percent of the population are civilian veterans, one of the highest rates in the nation. The other conservative influences are social: Focus on the Family is located in Colorado Springs, as are many other parachurch organizations.
Colorado Springs was named by Money Magazine as the best big city to live in 2006.

Outside Magazine just ranking Colorado Springs as the best place to live.

Outside Magazine lists as a drawback that it might be get this TOO CONSERVATIVE for some people.
Colorado Springs consistently ranks as one of the top places to live in financial and lifestyle magazines as well.

I left NYC-Queens—, moved to Texas and have never regretted it.
The Dakotas do intrigue me.
Avoid it if you can. Bunch of inbreds with nothing to do out there.
Grew up just north of there, went to college in Brookings, SD.
Think you know what ‘cold’ is? You are in for a surprise.
South Dakota is great for hunting, fishing, growing misquitoes just ‘that’ much smaller than Minnesota. 9 months of Winter, and 3 months of poor sledding. No state income tax, and a culture that is largely based on agriculture. Primarily German/Norwegion - at least it was when there 25+ years ago.
The culture may have changed - but the weather likely hasn’t.
You could find work in SF, but live in NW Iowa... those 4 counties in the NW corner of Iowa are THE most conservative in the state.
So Dak is a great family state. Would prefer to live there myself.
There are difference west -v- east, divided by roughly divided by the Missouri river. farmers in the east, ranchers in the west both of which think their part of the state is the best.
Hunter?...great bird hunting (east)...great antelope hunting (west)
Most important...great people
bring thermal undies.
I’s suggest you focus less on politics and more on lifestyle and climate.
I did hear that there are jobs opening up in the oil drilling industry in the Dakotas. My brother-in-law was a rough neck in No Dak for several years. Tough work and they often had to pile in a SUV and drive 100+ miles to the job site. But it paid well. And yes, it gets cold. I went there to help him move back to Washington, and I was wondering why all the cars had electrical plugs out the front grill. Plugging in your car was the only way to have it survive the cold nights.
