The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. ― Patrick Henry
And a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!
Happy Birthday!
WOW! I really miss the old FR!!! Where has everyone gone?
All is quite wonderful here :-)
Ringy-pingy to the ATRW thread. Please post any items or articles of interest, check in and let us know how you are doing.
Hey there!
Lessee, hubby’s mother became quite ill a few weeks ago. Since then, she’s been hovering between this world and the next. The docs thought she was close to death last week, but ... they were wrong. She has now improved and is back in the nursing home. However, at age 93, the time can’t be far off.
In the meantime, and in addition to support raising, I am developing a web site using Drupal 7 and Ubercart. Hubby has long arranged music for his bands and also for some church ensembles. We think that he could market some of his music. Initially we’re marketing just his original tunes and tunes that are in the public domain. We’ll contact a lawyer about other arrangements after we turn a profit.
I’ve been following the Iron Dog as well as I can. Today, they’ll get to Fairbanks. Currently, the teams are being held in Tanana with a restart at 1100 CST (that is 0800 Alaska time). This so the winners will cross the finish line in around noon their time. I think.
You can watch the finish at the irondog.org web site.
I'll come back when I have something intelligent to say.
Then again, with that qualifier, I may never be back...

Thanks for the ping. PTL your MIL is doing better. Our pastor’s mother was hovering between the two worlds (nice turn of phrase by the way) a year ago October. The doctors thought her death so imminent that the family kept a death vigil. About a week into it, the mother woke up and asked for breakfast; she’s been going great guns since.
The race is on! Go, Todd, go!!!!
Our weather is crazy! high winds with rain, hail and snow right down to the ocean shore. Power outage during the night but thankfully, it is back on now. Other than the weird weather, all is wonderful here on the N OR coast!
Mark McKenna and Dusty VanMeter just won the 2012 Iron Dog - Team #17 on Ski Doos! Congratulations, men!
Great story Vor Lady! Jem, I hope your mil continues to strengthen and improve. 90+ year olds are WONDERFUL people!
Glad you are OK with that wicked weather bev. Thanks for checking in!
Since you usually have something intelligent and interesting to say, we look forward to it.
:^)
Hello everybody, checking in myself, we are on a road trip and made it safely to our first nights (possibly 2-3 nights) destination. I’m off to check the headlines and try to catch up....bad news out of Afghanistan it seems.....
!!
Just a quick hi. Jem, “to die is gain” so, whether she lives or dies, it’s a win-win, no? At 90+, I think I’d be ready for the next BIG thing.
I’m out of hybernation. I go into it each January-February, as head of a Finance dept. in my company. Taxes, fiscal year ends, new budgets, yada, yada, the busywork is just hideous.
I was writing more personal things, then realized this goes into the news feed on the forum page, so will omit. I still like my privacy.
Have a great week all!
