Merry Christmas everyone! My sincere hope is that all of you, each and every one, will have a joyous Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
Just wondering if any others out there are spending this sacred night solo.
Besides my trusty Boxer, Django the Wonderdog, and a new edition to the household, a gorgeous long-haired black cat I have dubbed Jackson, I have the house to myself all evening and night.
Tomorrow, it will be family wall-to-wall at mom's house, complete with gifts and an excellent multi-calorie dinner. But, tonight, I'll enjoy a quiet supper and a nice cappuccino, watching "The Muppet Christmas Carol," and maybe "A Christmas Story." Probably turn in early.
Anyone else in Freeperland alone tonight? Just curious.
If he was any kind of man, that would be a broom in his hand ;-)
“...heartbroken daughter who had her a-hole boyfriend break up with her tonight.” I bet the Creator has a brand-new plan for y’all, right around the corner. Happened to me. Keep the faith!
:) Yea!
OK. Here is another adult play dough recipe that is just as easy:
1 box Jello Cheesecake (or lemon or chocolate) pudding
1 regular thing of cool whip.
A dash of liquer of your choice (if you like)
Mix and dish up in little glasses or whatever. Refrigerate and top with something.
Can be sugar-free.
Comes out like mousse. Seriously.
GMTA...my wife made that EXACT thing the other night; albeit with the ‘limited edition’ Pumpkin Spice pudding, and without the liquor. Hmmm...coconut creme and Kahlua...hmmm.
mmmmm...sounds good...will try it for new Year’s Eve.
Hope you all had a wonderful peaceful day today.
I am feeling very sad about the Christians in Nigeria who went out to church to celebrate the Lord’s birth, and were murdered in cold blood by muslims.
A pox on Boko Haram...may they all burn in porkfire.
As for spending Christmas alone, I just had to listen to a female liberal say this with a knowing, snarky tone: "Republicans love children until they are born."
Sometimes alone is not such a bad place.
I am blessed to be addressed with such sweet words. I don’t really post much, but when I do, I really try to at least post something I won’t regret the next day and most of the time think at least a little before hitting the “post” button.
Very touching words. If I knew what I did to make your list I’d do more of it.
Merry Christmas, Outlaw Woman!
“She had to learn to take a treat out of my hand carefully. The first time she didn’t know where my hand ended and the snack began and drew blood.” lol! I used to hold a potato chip between my lips, and my Newfie took it gently. When her vision failed, she smashed into my nose.
Tnx.
Bad stuff about Nigeria.
It appears Barabbas and Judas have a number of heirs, as does Ishmael.
If you want two secrets of cooking that me own sainted mother taught me, here they are: the secret to outstanding gravy is taking time with the butter/flour mixture. Slowly stirring and browning it darker and darker is key. Imagine, having some put back/frozen in little balls to wrm up and use in, say, chicken gravy made with left over champagne (another yum moment).
Similarly, if you add in 1 tablespoon for every egg you scramble and then scramble eggs on low heat, you gradually end up with eggs that are so creamy that you’d think you were eating custard. Then, you can add in cheese and sour cream at the last, if you remember to take them off the heat before they go watery, as they still cook up in the pan. You won’t even know you’re eating scrambled eggs. Rivals eggs benedict, really, if you serve it on dark toast.
Me mum used to start recipes with things like “enough sweet potatoes for a pie” and the like. Insisted all of us kids learned to cook. Like we could escape it in that house. Then again, things I have cooked have been eaten stright out of the pan. I don’t do that much anymore.
Oh. The same thing about slowly browning works for onions and onion soup recipes. If you brown onions in the flour sugar mixture long enough, some people might waltz into the kitchen thinking you’re cooking something else. Even people who don’t like onions.
I think it’s the taking the time part over low to medium heat that’s the kicker. People used to take more time in the kitchen. We don’t have that much of it to spare.
Very German. Very English/Scottish.
I see her teaching still, in all of my siblings, man or woman.
You are never alone...........
I think that’s a tradition around here isn’t it? :)
Merry Christmas Viking!
Merry Christmas to you too.
Agreed. Thanks.
What a nice post, Outlaw!!! GREAT graphics! :)
I, too, fear that peace in America is coming to an end.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!!
It is the most perfect example of Edmund Burke's comment: “all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing”
And you are so right Kartographer, we often touch people in ways we never imagined and never know. May we always continue to do so.
Merry Christmas!
