Lowe‘s Pulls Its Ads from TLC’s ‘All-American Muslim’

Hardware retail giant Lowe’s has pulled its commercials from all future episodes of TLC’s reality TV show “All-American Muslim,” the chain said this week.

The conservative Florida Family Association has been leading a campaign to get retailers to pull their advertisements from the show. On Tuesday, it posted an email from a Lowe‘s representative who said Lowe’s will no longer be advertising during “All-American Muslim,” which chronicles the lives of several Muslim-American families living in Dearborn, Mich.

“While we continue to advertise on various cable networks, including TLC, there are certain programs that do not meet Lowe’s advertising guidelines, including the show you brought to our attention. Lowe’s will no longer be advertising on that program,” the Lowe’s representative said.

In a post on its official Twitter feed Friday, Lowe’s wrote in response to another tweet: “We did not pull our ads based solely on the complaints or emails of any one group. It is never our intent to alienate anyone.”

I hear, that in the interest of balance, TLC is working on a series promoting the glories of Christianity. It intends to feature Christians who are an asset to their communities. Oh, of course I just made that up. I have an overactive imagination.

Lowes.com

Just contacted them via web site and phone (Laura, NC accent) to relay my joy that they dropped sponsorship of the American mozlim show.

TLC is dead to me.

The article doesn’t say what the objection to the show is. I wouldn’t think that a reality show about American Moslems would be objectionable in itself, but rather if it were not an accurate portrayal, or if it took a heavily propagandistic spin. The latter may be the case, but this article doesn’t specify what the problem with the show is.

They actually already have something quite similar.....with the Duggar family.

Lowes #: 1-800-445-6937

I am holding right now.

After examining the Lowes site for several minutes, I called the only phone number I could find, a number under the words “Need help?”. Given a few prompts, I eventually chose “customer care” which then gave me a choice that had the word “comments”.

I would mind waiting on hold a lot less if I did not have to hear every 30 seconds “We are still assisting other customers...etc.” Here’s a clue, Lowes: If I am still hearing your stupid music, I know that I am still connected.

Okay, after 12 minutes, I spoke to a very nice woman who took my comment praising Lowes for pulling its ads.

Not the same at all. Duggars are one isolated family. And most people think of them as being some deranged freaks. Not at all representative of Christians. I don’t know anybody who has almost two dozen kids....and counting.

Stupid state senator Liu (sp?) is calling for a boycott of Lowe’s, says “Islam is a religion of peace” and he can’t believe Lowe’s ignorance of this.

The Duggars have an amazingly large family, no one will deny that. What is more impressive is the manner in which they handle that family- no whining or complaining, no government handouts, living well and debt free, well behaved kids with mom and dad well in control. They live by their principles and are not a harm or threat to anyone except to the ideologues fixated on population control.

I tried numerous times to send an email on the florida family website via their form to all the show’s sponsors - you just fill in your name and email address, but every time I tried to send, it took me to a screen saying I needed to put a subject in it. Well, the subject line is already filled in and you can’t alter it!

Anyone else try it and have problems? There are a couple of links in the comments section of the article to the website.

It is.

“but this article doesn’t specify what the problem with the show is.”

The article below does - please read, in particular, the remarks by Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller toward the bottom -
