UPPER SAINT CLAIR, Pa. -- Money blew out of an armored vehicle transporting cash in Upper Saint Clair on Wednesday.
Investigators said the money was being shipped to the West View Savings Bank when a door on the truck somehow opened.
Drivers of a Fidelity Courier Services van said they were alerted by a passing motorist that bags of money were falling from the rear door of the vehicle as it travelled southbound on Route 19.
Investigators said some of the cash was recovered by couriers who returned to the scene, but plastic bags containing "well into six figures" worth of cash is missing. Police said if those who found the cash fail to come forward in a reasonable amount of time, they could be charged with theft.

Perhaps they should teach their $12 an hour guards to close the door.
I'd guess it won't take long to finger a guard....proving it is another thing...
I never seem to be around when these things are happening...
I think that would be a stretch - unless the money was still in official bags when it was found, how woud anyone know it was from the truck?
I pulled in for gas one time and found about 25 bucks (ones and fives) scattered on the ground near the pump, with nobody around - was I supposed to bring it to the police in case the owner claimed it?
Inexplicably.
Depends on the statutes of your particular locality, but technically, yes.
Inside job.
Guards will crack if they don’t claim the 5th.
Anyone self deluded enough to think they’ll pull off this caper isn’t self controlled enough to survive interrogations.
This should be considered a Christmas miracle....just thank God and shut up. /s
Usually you are required to turn it in to the police, and if unclaimed, it becomes yours after a period set by law, usually 90 days.
If you believe the found object has no value, you may dispose of it as trash, but, of course you may not spend it, that would confirm value, and hook you for theft.
The whole thing was "dirty" and everyone knew it. One of our prized attorneys went to jail in an associated matter (murder for hire).
So don't be surprised if "dirty" is involved here, too.
Not always. I have read a few stories about people finding cash and turning it in only to find out that the city kept it once the clock had run out to claim it.
So you missed the “usually”?
“Security Fail”
LOL!
“Actually, yes, in most states, found money is still the property of the person who lost it.”
Unless the “found money” is taxpayer money, found by, say Solyndra or Fannie Mae “executives” or TARP bailout bonus beneficiaries and the like.
$12/Hr. to safe-guard millions of dollars in CASH?!
Heck, the “Circle K” mini mart around the corner from me pays their cashiers $12/Hr.
You get what you pay for.
It's good to be king, even if you're just pResident.
I was ahead of one by about 8 minutes back in the 70’s.
Timing is everything.
