Marissa is a beautiful young girl and she certainly did have a wonderful teacher and parent in Amy!

I loved both of your poetry pieces today, Bob. I was away a lot today and didn’t get to answer every post! We all thank you for your ability to write poetry! Keep it coming!

Thanks for your cute birthday cards/wishes.

Marissa has been busy. Her best friend since kindergarten came over for pizza and cake/ice cream.

They are playing on the Wii. I told her mom that I would bring her home about 7:30. Since they are now in different schools, they especially enjoy any time they can spend together.

Of course I’m not biased but I agree with you. LOL

It was fun to go back and read all 8 BD poems that you have written for her. Thank you for doing that for her.

LOL! Thanks, Amy. I know about that double posting thing as of late. Takes so long for it to move that we click it just one more time.

I’m sure Marissa had a good time with her friend. She was so pretty in her latest picture. She’s growing into a beautiful young lady and it won’t be long until the boys take notice. Oh my, Woe is You then!

Yorkie - you are so right!

Sadly, our children and grandchildren. in my opinion, will grow up in a much darker world than we did.

When I was a boy and young man, the threats to our American way of life were external. Now we face the enemy within. We need to stand up for the values and traditions we hold dear.

Whenever anyone wished me Happy Holidays or some other similarly PC greeting I respond with a Happy Thanksgiving or Merry Christmas. We must fight to maintain the traditions that have sustained us through two and one third centuries as the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

Our boys and girls have preserved those traditions through many wars - it is incumbent upon us to carry on! The Christmas songs you have posted are central to our tradition - there are a myriad of others we could cite to like effect.

It's time to take back our heritage and Christmas is an excellent place to start.

Thanks so much for your excellent post!

Hi JC I appreciate your concern...Pepper and I will get along fine if she doesn’t stop eating (fat chance of that) and we can keep her pain free...I always have Christmas at my house, its buffet style cause I never know who else might show up, I have had grandson’s bring their girlfriend and my kids in-laws if they had no particular plans for the day....You have a happy healthy new year....GG

Only A Sketch

December 8, 2011

In The Weight of Glory, C. S. Lewis tells the story of a woman who gave birth to a son while confined as a prisoner in a dungeon. Since the boy had never seen the outside world, his mother tried to describe it by making pencil drawings. Later when he and his mother were released from prison, the simple pencil sketches were replaced by the actual images of our beautiful world.

In a similar way, the inspired picture the Bible gives us of heaven will someday be replaced by joyful, direct experience. Paul understood that our perception of heaven is limited until one day in the future when we will be in Christ’s presence. “Now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known” (1 Cor. 13:12). Yet Paul’s confidence in future glory gave him strength in the midst of trial: “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Rom. 8:18).

Our current idea of the glories of heaven is only a simple sketch. But we can be completely confident in Jesus’ claim that He has gone to prepare a place for us (John 14:1-3). The best is yet to come!

Sometimes I grow homesick for heaven
And the glories I there shall behold;
What a joy that will be when my Savior I see
In that beautiful city of gold! —Anon.

Now we see Jesus in the Bible,
but one day we’ll see Him face to face.

Read: 1 Corthians 13:8-12

Now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. —1 Corinthians 13:12
Bible in a year:
Daniel 8-10; 3 John

Thank you for sharing ODB again this morning, Rus. We appreciate your dedication in sharing it.

I think we had your weather early this morning .... really cold. The low this morning was 25. Since we live out in the boondocks, we get colder temps than what is recorded for Fresno.

Have a Blessed Week.

Oh Tannenbaum, oh Tannenbaum,
Wie grün sind deine Blätter!
Du grünst nicht nur zur Sommerzeit,
Nein auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
Oh Tannenbaum, oh Tannenbaum,
Wie grün sind deine Blätter!

Oh Tannenbaum, oh Tannenbaum,
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
Wie oft hat schon zur Winterzeit
Ein Baum von dir mich hoch erfreut!
Oh Tannenbaum, oh Tannenbaum,
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!

Oh Tannenbaum, oh Tannenbaum,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren:
Die Hoffnung und Beständigkeit
Gibt Mut und Kraft zu jeder Zeit!
Oh Tannenbaum, oh Tannenbaum,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren!

Good morning, Jaycee.

I know what you mean about having too much to do. I need to make another trip to Fresno today. Marissa is singing in a Christmas Concert at the local High School tonight. Her class is performing the program that they will be doing at school next week and she is singing her solo.

She tried on her dress last night .... I think it is too short. She is growing so fast. The one she has is a 12; I’m going to look at the 14s. I wouldn’t mind the length since she will be wearing leggings, but it looks hi-waisted to me.

I hope to find another that will work and that she will like. That is a big order. :)

Have a beautiful day.
