Sometimes, dreams really do come true.

The NBA and its players have reached a tentative agreement to end the five-month-long lockout and begin play on Christmas Day, as first reported by Ken Berger. Both players and owners must agree to a final vote of approval, but that is merely a formality at this point. After 16 hours of discussions Friday (and into Saturday morning), David Stern and Billy Hunter held a joint press conference just before 4 a.m. announcing the long-awaited handshake deal.

“We’ve reached a tentative understanding that is subject to a variety of approvals…but we’re optimistic that it will all come to pass,” Stern told a patient crowd of stakeout reporters.

Training camp is set for Dec. 9. The season is set for 66 games and will open Christmas Day with an exciting tripleheader featuring Boston vs. New York, Chicago vs. the Los Angeles Lakers, and an NBA Finals rematch between Miami and Dallas.

The lockout lasted 149 days.

If you've ever seen ESPN "Street Ball", you've seen the future of the NBA.

When I think about NBA players the word that comes to mind is lockup, not lockout.

Toronto Raptors playing the Grizzlies from a number of years ago is hardly indicative of NBA attendance, especially if it was late in the season and the fourth quarter of a game that probably wasn’t close.

After the players go just TWO WEEKS without a paycheck.
How unsurprising....

Guess the spoiled rich kids don’t really care until the money stops.

I put watching the NBA just behind a root canal, a prostate exam, and trying to make the Olympic Curling Team on my 'favorite things to do' list. My tropical fish are more entertaining, and they don't demand a Cadillac Escalade to keep swimming.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."
