The family came to a church I attended a couple of years ago. The kids seem very smart and well-educated and seems they all love each other. I can’t imagine having 20 kids but really it’s none of my business. They support them and are a wonderful Christian family. Personally, though, I think it’s just very weird.
The octomom times 2.5
No comparison. Octomom will be paid by the taxpayers for the rest of her life and at least until the kids are 18. The Duggars are paying their own tab. I find you post awful even if a joke. I hate the Octopus.
Good work by a husband & wife creating a great family.
I agree, doesn’t sound that great. I’ve never watched the show though, so I don’t know. The only reality show I watch is the local news in the morning, or I just wake up.
I hear being a reality show cast member pays pretty well...
I don’t know if this still applies or not, but when I was having my children 30 years ago, you were only allowed 3 C-Sections. If that is still the case, then she only has 2 more to go.
Oh My G*D. Having to take care of your younger brother or sisters! What a crime against humanity! Send out Holder and the DEA. This travesty must be stopped. Give their kids to some nice, normal welfare moms who will send them to government sanctioned day care (schools) and wall to wall electronic media. Or better yet, find some gay or lesbian couples who will take them in, and provide an even better education (sic) for them.
Then they will grow up to be just like you.
My sister has four kids and had four C-sections. Today c-sections are not as bad as 30 years ago for sure. Her last c-section was 3 years ago. I also have four children. My brother has one so far. My wife and I only need 16 more children....better get practicing again. Tonight sounds good. lol. Although we are both 42 so if God gives us another 16 children....we would be a story.
Oh my. Heaven forbid that those kids be taught how to care for one another and their home, and be true family members by loving parents in the kind of learning enviroment God intended.
Society started it’s downward spiral when chores and helping with younger siblings disappeared and television and video games entered the home.
Today’s child rearing methods are worthless. The Duggar kids are very blessed and they know it.
Have you watched to see what all those kids get to do? You never had so much fun.
You said it before I could! LOL
Our 13-year-old enjoys watching her younger siblings, especially her 4-year-old brother. She has a great rapport with small kids.
I remember a time when looking out for your own family was a common thing...guess now it makes for child abuse. It’s not like Jim Bob and Michelle are out partying. Besides, won’t these kids make better parents if they have had a little practice with kids? If nothing else, it teaches them patience, responsibility for someone other than themselves, and appreciation for the things parents do.
At the risk of getting called a crappy parent by other posters, my kids do the following: set and help clear the table, feed the animals, pick up toys, help put away clean clothes, help their dad with the yard work, help with the grocery shopping and putting away the groceries, fixing their own breakfasts and school lunches, and more I can’t remember. That’s while participating in extracurricular activities like altar serving, Boy and Girl Scouts, and religious ed classes, as well as staying on the A/B honor roll.
Meanwhile, my husband has a cousin who has only one child, and she is a spoiled brat. She does nothing for herself and is way overindulged. She had a cell phone at the age of 7. Thankfully I am not around her much or I wouldn’t be able to stand it. Not saying that only children are spoiled brats in general—just pointing out that having several children doesn’t make for a bad childhood for the others (I’ll refrain from using the gutter language).
My grandfather grew up in a family of 13, and they were dairy farmers in Wisconsin. I went to school with a kid who was one of fifteen children (yes, it was a Catholic school, LOL). A friend of my husband’s has ten children, all homeschooled. An acquaintance of mine from our local right-to-life group has 5 children, ages 7 and under, and she is one of the most selfless people I’ve come across in a long time (another homeschooler).
For a ‘conservative’ forum, a lot of people seem opposed to what other people do with their lives, especially seeing how the Duggars aren’t leeching off the taxpayers. A few of the Duggar kids have started their own businesses. Kind of the thing we should be championing, right?
But she looks so good (imo, at least 5-10 years younger) and calm! I don’t know how she does it.
Your opinion stated as fact, but your opinion only nevertheless. I would say tht society started its downward spiral when the notion of socialism got started. Video games & TV being irrelevant.
Forcing children to labor to take care of what should be their parents' responsibilites is nothing more than a microcosm of the welfare society. The government forces you (assuming you even have a job and pay taxes) to labor to pay for other peoples' children. Children that you had no part in producing and were never asked is it was OK with you to pay for them. The Duggars are doing exactly what the government does, but on a smaller scale - forcing their children to labor to take care of other children that they had no role in producing and no say in the production of. I stand by my statement that theirs is a shitty childhood.
Reality show stars.
Reality show stars.
Just who paid all the medical bills for the last pregnancy and baby. I’m guessing it was probably over a million in medical bills. My twins were in the hospital a month when they were 6 weeks old over 14 years ago, and that was over 400,00 in medical bills. Baby Josie was mich sicker than my girls.
I’m guessing it was insurance, but still it’s an extra burden on that company and I’m guessing that insurance compay’s premiums will go up for everyone.
I think that the insurance company should haves right to not cover so many pregnancies.
You make your kids do CHORES??? Outrageous! /s
Seriously, America could use more parents like you.
My mother had her first c-section 28 years ago, her 8th 16 years ago. I think Mrs. Duggar’s ovaries will give out before her uterus does.
