John Sandford's Certain Prey: Mark Harmon as Lucas Davenport

Posted on 11/05/2011 6:59:21 PM PDT by EveningStar

I never pictured Mark Harmon as Lucas Davenport but I guess I'm going to find out how it works out.

Harmon stars as the antihero super-cop in John Sandford’s Certain Prey premiering tomorrow night, November 6, on the USA network

You can read the review by Mike Hale of The New York Times here: Even With a Fancier Car, Mark Harmon Can Still Solve Crimes

Use the Force, Lucas!

Yeah, I know, it's Harmon, not Hamill, but still ...

Start with Rules of Prey. Also, the Harry Bosch novels by Michael Connelly are top-notch as well in the cop genre.

I love Lucas Davenport & the prey series..............I could definitely see Mark Harmon playing him even though in my mind I have always pictured him as very dark haired and dark eyed.

Could someone tell me the book that begins his relationship w/ his wife Weather...............I would like to read it.
Thanks!

Virgil Flowers is a character in the Prey series, spun off into his own series of books...

Yes, thanks for the heads up. I pictured Davenport as shorter and stockier than Mark Harmon.

I have no great hope that this will be any different from other Hollywood attempts to adapt interesting literary characters. From Matt Helm to Travis McGee to Bob Lee Swagger, they have all sucked the big wazoo.

The early James Bond came close.

Sanford hates guns. He hates ALL GUNS. Any gun with a scope is a sniper rifle. Any shotgun is a street sweeper that can knock down a medium sized building. All pistols are cheap pot metal knockoffs that are marketed only in the ghettos. If there is a gun in the house, it will arise in the middle of the night and stalk any child

He hates the idea of any US subject being able to see a gun in a picture. Only cops should have any kind of gun.

He hates guns so much he is either moronically stupid, and cannot recall anything he has ever researched about guns, or deliberately ignores or never bothers to ask anyone who might know anything about guns.

After two of his liberal Minneapolis propaganda pot boilers, I never bothered to pick up another.
