Shockingly, I am Leaning Toward Newt

Having watched several of the debates, I am becoming convinced that Newt might be the only one that can beat Obama. He will destroy Obama in the Presidential debates. Can he overcome the destruction that Big Media rained down on him in the 90's?

Newt received $300k lobbying on behalf of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to bail them out; now he talks about sending people to jail. Newt is a whore and hypocrite.

Newt has my vote. So what that he has baggage. Will he cut spending, stand for our military, keep taxes low, encourage business growth and pride in America and nominate judges who believe in the constitution? Yes I believe he will.

Click on long-time poster Deb's homepage for a Truman quote you will never see repeated by the MSM.

Good lord - did Truman actually say that? And to think, I've actually defended him on occasion. Geeez....

Newt is my favorite candidate now. No candidate is perfect, and Newt is far less frightening to me than the flip-flopping Massachusetts liberal Romney. And as you pointed out, Newt is all but guaranteed to destroy Obama in a debate.

My memory fails me. Could you list his waffles?

He is a fair weather friend. I am done with him. He quit when we were down and wants to ride the wave and enjoy the trappings of power now.

Interesting bit at your first link:

"Harry S. Truman gained a reputation for advancements in civil rights as President, but racial slurs are scattered through letters he wrote as a young man. ''I think one man is just as good as another so long as he's honest and decent and not a nigger or a Chinaman,'' the young Truman wrote in a 1911 letter to his future wife, one of 1,400 Truman letters recently opened to scholars."

Ok, so he was fairly young when he wrote those racial slurs. Good to see the context in which he made them, but it's still a bit disappointing.

I can’t vote for him because he still believes in parts, I said parts, of the progressive agenda. For example, he is still 100% in favor of subsidies for bogus liberal programs like ethanol.

That’s a real problem.

Newt is brillant but also very, very arrogant. He’s planning the Lincoln-Douglas debate between he and Cain and then goes on some TV show and says-that Cain will be long gone soon and it will be between he and Romney in the primaries. How nice of him to say since he plans on setting up Caine in the debate. I trust Cain.
I do not forgive Newt for supporting Scouzzaflaza from a NE state at the last election when she was such a RINO that she backstabbed the republicans and through her votes to the demos. And there’s the sitting with Nancy and proclaiming global warming-and he’s been a globalist and Bilderburger for a long time. He’s not to be trusted and would irritate a cabinet who had to work with him. Maybe secretary of State -that’s the only thing I would hope he’d be considered for.

I agree with you about 911 and George Bush, but Bush in my opinion blew it with the war. It is not the job of the American taxpayer to rebuild our enemies futures, it’s there responsibility.
The military should be used to fight wars not prop up some new government in some foreign land, that no one cares about and even after we spend billions they still hate us!
After we drove Ben Laden out of Afghanistan and into Pakistan and killed the Taliban off, we should have brought home the troops and told Pakistan we know he’s there, give him to us or we will give your money to India, and sell our weapons to India.
Concerning Iraq, we should have killed Saddam in 1991. We should not have supported him in the 80’s.
Iran, we should not have propped up the shaw, and dropped him like a hot potato when he became inconvenient.
If we had stayed out of Israel’s and Egyptians business the peace accord may have come out of mutual self interest, instead of a bribe and a promise to support Mubarak and his predecessors.
I don’t blame America for others problems, just wish we lived by George Washington’s precept to avoid foreign entanglements.
Our fore fathers believed in doing business with everyone and minding our own buisness.
